Chapter 736 Old Married Couple The excitement was always temporary, and it faded away as the night grew quiet. Lysander lay in bed, gazing at Aurora, yet she still felt a wave of loneliness.

The words Josiah had spoken to her before bed echoed incessantly in her mind, like a resounding echo.

He simply wished for her to be truly happy...

"Wu wu...

Aurora made noises in her sleep.

Lysander gently patted her, coaxing her to bed.

She usually did this in the past.

But that night, Aurora seemed to be uneasy. She kept scrunching up her little nose and would occasionally raise her hand. After Lysander tried to soothe her for a while, she finally puckered up her tiny mouth and started to cry.

Aurora's development was incomplete, and sometimes, due to a lack of awareness that her hand was a part of her own body, she would tightly clutch her hair and refuse to let go.

"Waaa!" At last, there was no longer a need to feel desolate.

Lysander draped on her robe and sat up, starting to gently rock Aurora in an attempt to soothe her.

Seeing that her current approach wasn't working, she went to check Aurora's diaper. Once she skillfully changed the considerably wet diaper, Aurora's cries finally weakened. However, tears were still continuously rolling down her cheeks.

Could it be that she is hungry? She wanted to go prepare Aurora formula, but her tiny hand was clutching her sleeve tightly, making it impossible for her to put Aurora in the crib.

Holding Aurora while preparing the formula wasn't exactly impossible, but if things got chaotic, there was a chance the child could get scalded.

Just as Lysander was at her wit's end, hesitating whether to take Aurora and seek help from Laura, there ca soft knock on the bedroom door.

At that moment, he was the only one who could have come.

"The door isn't locked, con in." Lysander simply couldn't free her hands to open the door for him.

Josiah gently pushed the door open, immediately noticing Lysander pacing around the room and Aurora in her arms that was crying so hard she was gasping for breath. He quietly said, "I asked Eleanor earlier, and she said that babies around one year old are typically going through teething, which often disrupts their sleep at night." Ultimately, all that knowledge did cin handy one day. He moved forward, trying to help Lysander soothe Aurora. However, with one hand needed to support his crutch, it wasn't easy for him to directly take Aurora into his arms.

"What should I do when Aurora gets fussy? I've mainly cared for newborns at the hospital, never really looked after a baby this big... It seems like my previous experience isn't applicable here." Lysander was so preoccupied that she didn't even bother tucking her stray hair behind her ear.

"Hold on to Aurora forfor a bit, I'm going to prepare sformula. Once she's full, she should sleep more comfortably. If she cries, just hang in there, I'll be right back!" After she said that, she gestured for Josiah to sit down first. If he didn't, he simply wouldn't have the hands free to hold the child.

Josiah hesitated, glancing at Lysander's bed. He was clad in his pajamas, so logically, sitting down should not be an issue. The problem was, his wounds were treated with medicinal oil, leaving a faint medicinal scent on him.

Upon seeing Aurora crying like that, Lysander couldn't possibly concern himself with anything else. She immediately reassured, "Please, sit down without worry. There's nothing more important than soothing the child right now." No wonder everyone said having kids could cure one's obsession with cleanliness. Even the toughest of people wouldn't be able to resist this.

Josiah listened to Aurora's cries, feeling a wave of anxiety in his heart. Seeing Lysander in such distress, he quickly sat down close to the bed and carefully took the child into his arms.

Without a moment's hesitation, Lysander swept out of the room like a gust of wind. When she returned, she had a baby bottle in one hand and a bag of baby snack, toys, and other baby-soothing items in the other. It was a rare sight to see her in such a flurry.

The baby clutched the milk bottle, her long eyelashes fluttered a few times before the crying ceased. Then, she began to drink heartily.

"So, you were really hungry after all." Lysander let out a long sigh, her eyes heavy with sleep, as she said, "I remember the last twe took care of Aurora together; she wouldn't wake up from hunger once she fell asleep from playing too much. I didn't expect a child's habits to change so quickly." Aurora didn't quite understand, but while sucking on the milk bottle, she still found the tto let out a little "oh". In no time, she had drunk more than half the bottle.

As Josiah lifted his gaze, he could see her long hair cascading down in front of her. A faint itch tingled on his cheeks and in his heart. He parted his lips, intending to sasomething, not wanting to waste the current atmosphere. Unexpectedly, however, he yawned subconsciously.

The atmosphere suddenly turned awkward.

The next moment, seemingly infected, Lysander also yawned.

After finishing her milk, the most lively individual in the bedroom, with her bright, wide eyes, began to laugh. "Oh, ah!" Seeing her stop crying so quickly, Lysander sighed in relief but also expressed her confusion. "They say that yawns are contagious, so how cwe're both tired and Aurora is suddenly lively?" Josiah was not originally tired. The only reason he yawned earlier was due to the tranquil atmosphere in the bedroom. Now, however, he beginning to feel the weight of drowsiness, likely influenced bes His eyes grew heavy as he mused, "Perhaps she slept during the day. What should we do now?" Aurora didn't stay in his arms for long before she began to look around, clearly satiated and ready to play. The two adults had no choice but to indulge her.

Josiah couldn't stand for long, so he leaned against the bedhead, taking care of Aurora. Lysander picked up a rabbit toy, making her little head sway back and forth as she watched.

When both of them were so exhausted they could barely lift their heads, Aurora finally let out a small yawn, showing signs of sleepiness.

Lysander and Josiah were afraid of missing this opportunity of putting her to bed. They quickly placed her in the middle of the large bed, tenderly patting her from both sides to comfort her.

This was a strategy they had devised while staying at a resort in the past.

Aurora was now nestled between them. Not only had her playfulness m subsided, but her drowsiness had also intensified. Her sense of security was stronger than before. With barely a moment's pause, she raised her little hand and drifted off to sleep. Lysander gently pulled the blanket up to her chest.

Before she could even say a word, Josiah already understood her m concerns. He gently pulleḍup Aurora's sleeve to cover her hand, preventing the child from accidentally biting her sleeve while sucking her hand in sleep. The two of them shared an understanding so deep, it was as if they had been married for many years. After completing a series of tasks, even the mere act of exchanging a few words or liftinét their eyes felt exhausting. Without any prior agreement, they both fell asleep, only to be awakened the next morning by the gentle touch of Aurora's tiny hand on their faces.

Kids were best when they belong to someone else. You get to enjoy playing with them for a bit, and when they start crying or get hungry, you can simply hand them back to their parents.

When Lysander and Josiah appeared in the dining room with their dark circles under their eyes, they deeply felt this point. She was still bleary-eyed from sleep as she took a sip of the milk that was placed on her left. Josiah either didn't notice or simply didn't care. He too picked up the cup and took a sip.

Across from them, Susan seemed to be on the verge of speaking, but then stopped herself.

It wasn't until they had shared more than half of the glass of milk, taking turns sipping, that Lysander suddenly realized something was amiss.

Why was there another cup to her right?
