Chapter 235 Marley uncrossed his legs, a smirk curling his lips. It was laced with pure mockery.

"Get on your knees." His voice was cold, indifferent. "Ten thousand dollars per minute. That's a hell of a paycheck, isn't it?" Being forced to kneel naked and serve him was a humiliation that crushed Cheryl's dignity underfoot.

If this had been the old Cheryl, she would have fought back. She would have called him disgusting, slapped him across the face, and stormed out. But that woman didn't exist anymore. She had no right to fight back. Right now, money meant more than her dignity.

She kept her head down, refusing to meet his gaze. She didn't dare hope that the man in front of her-the sman who had once loved her-would have even a shred of mercy left.

Slowly, she dropped to her knees and placed her hands on his legs. The moment her fingers touched him, his entire body tensed. A storm brewed in his dark eyes as his rage crashed like violent waves, threatening to drown her whole.

The once-proud Cheryl, who used to look down on him, was now selling herself for money.

Marley's gaze never left her, his expression unreadable. After a long pause, he reached for a thick stack of cash on the table and flung it at her face.

The crisp bills scattered across the floor.

His voice was cold, dripping with contempt. "Didn't you dumpbecause I was broke? I thought I wasn't good enough for you?" He let out a low, scornful laugh. "And now look at you-absolutely pathetic." Every word cut like a knife. Years ago, they were the couple everyone envied. She would wake up to the hot coffee and breakfast he brought her. He would carry her for miles when she sprained her ankle just to take her to a doctor. He would hold her in his arms, whispering promises of forever.

Everything had long since changed. Nothing was the sanymore. When she walked away, his feelings for her died. And she was the one who ended it all.

The cash stung as it struck her skin, but Cheryl didn't care. She dropped to her knees, scrambling to gather the scattered bills from the carpet. Her fingers moved fast, and even her heart was swelling with joy.

There was at least 200 grand here.

Her hands trembled slightly with excitement. Finally, she had enough to cover Jenny's medical bills.

The sight of her kneeling there, desperately picking up money, only made the hatred in Marley's eyes burn even deeper. She was willing to throw away her dignity for cash? Thinking back to everything he had done for her, he felt nothing but disgust. Marley clenched his jaw so hard his temples throbbed, his veins bulging with rage.

He couldn't take it anymore. Striding forward, he grabbed Cheryl's arm and yanked her to her feet, his voice cold and menacing. "Since you love money so much, I'll make sure you get your fill!" Marley was so strong that Cheryl was practically yanked off her feet as he dragged her toward the room.

Panic surged through her. She thrashed against his hold, trying to break free. "What are you doing?! I don't want this-" But against Marley's strength, her resistance was futile.

The next second, her body was slammed onto the bed. Cheryl struggled to get up, but before she could, a powerful body pinned her down again.

Marley gripped her jaw tightly, his voice cold and laced with humiliation. "Cheryl, to me, you're nothing more than an escort. What right do you have to say no? If you want to be a mistress, you'd better act like one."

At that moment, Cheryl felt like she had been nailed in place and was frozen stiff. He was right. She was just Marley's mistress now. This was exactly what she had agreed to. She had prepared herself for this before stepping through that door, but no amount of preparation could stop the sharp sting of his words.

Marley's clothes hit the floor. When he pressed down on her, something inside Cheryl shattered.

Tears slipped silently from the corners of her eyes, disappearing into her hair. Sthings had changed forever.

Three hours later, Cheryl felt like she had been run over by a truck. Hen body ached; it was stiff and sore. She turned her head slightly, staring at the man sleeping soundly beside her. The traces of youth were long gone from Marley's face. Now, he was all sharp features and effortless confidence.

A man like this could easily make any woman's heart race.

But he wasn't the sMarley who had once sworn to protect her forever. Cheryl lowered her eyelids, hiding the pain in hèk eyes. She silently whispered in her heart, "I'm sorry." If she were given another chance to go back to that time, she would have still chosen to let him go.

But it wasn't because she looked down on him for being poor. She opened her eyes again, her gaze now calm and steady.
