Lily instinctively stood up but froze mid-motion when she recognized Terence. She had not idea Terence was the
president of Lupier.
"Ms. Joyner, please, have a seat," Terence said as he took the main chair, treating her with professional courtesy
as if they were strangers. The other interviewers settled into chairs around him.
Lily's reswas easy to assess. Each interviewer, starting with Terence, asked standard questions about design

While she answered most confidently, she stumbled when the last interviewer brought up this year's trending
design styles. Having been consumed with Xavier, she had not kept up with recent design trends and could not
properly compare this year's styles with last year's.
"That's all," Terence concluded, tapping his fingers on the table.
The receptionist promptly entered to escort Lily out. After politely saying goodbye to the interviewers, Lily
followed her to the elevator.
"We'll notify you of the results by phone within two business days," the receptionist explained.
Lily gave her a grateful smile. "Thank you.".
Before stepping into the elevator, she glanced back at the office where the interviewers remained, likely
discussing her candidacy. Though surprised by Terence's presence, she did not want to use their connection to
influence the decision.
Just as she left the building, she received a text from Xavier saying he would be working late and asking her to
have dinner ready.
It was unusual for Xavier to notify her about working late. Nonetheless, Lily would surely go back and prepare
dinner as told. After all, Hayden's situation still was not resolved.

while she has potential, many recent graduates are more current with design trends," one argued.
Another added, "Her award-winning final project might make her too proud to work as an assistant designer."
"| found Ms. Joyner quite humble-she might surprise us," lan Connor countered.
Though opinions were divided, the final decision rested with Terence.
After a moment's silence, Terence declared, "I agree with Mr. Connor's assessment."
