Chapter 300 Ben let out a long sigh, "Sure, hitting Jane was out of line, but you were pretty harsh too. Anyway, what's done is done. Talking about it now won't change anything." With that, Ben walked away.

Lillian, teary-eyed, plopped down next to Grandma Emily and said, looking all kinds of pitiful, "Grandma, it's my fault. I've always known Allison's not fond of me. I can handle a slap, but seeing you so upset makesworry about your health. Please, don't stress yourself over this." Grandma Emily's heart ached as she looked at Lillian, gently brushing her cheek. "Sweetheart, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Does it still hurt?" Lillian, tears brimming, shook her head. "It doesn't hurt anymore, Grandma." Seeing Lillian's face all swollen tugged at Grandma Emily's heartstrings, so she quickly asked the maid to boil an egg for Lillian to soothe her face.

Meanwhile, Joshua rang up Thomas to get a lowdown on Lillian and Zach's recent whereabouts.

After Allison and Javier left the Fisher family's place, they swung by the hospital to check on Linda. Linda was awake but still all over the place emotionally. When she saw Allison, her eyes immediately filled with tears.

"Allie, your sister... she..." Linda was so choked up she couldn't even finish her sentence.

Allison felt a stab of pain in her chest and tried to comfort her. "Auntie, Chris is trying to use Lizzy as leverage with Joshua, so she shouldn't be in any immediate danger. Please, try not to worry too much and take care of yourself." It was a logical point. Chris, despite being a cold-hearted lunatic, was a master at scheming. Killing Lizzy wouldn't do him any favors; keeping her around to negotiate with Joshua was the smarter play.

Allison took a deep breath, convincing herself that Lizzy still held value for Chris and that he'd keep her alive.

Once they left the hospital, Allison hit up a nearby store to grab a new phone and SIM card. As soon as she powered it on, her screen lit up with a barrage of missed calls and unread messages.

Most were from Joshua, with the rest from Javier, Linda, and her friends and colleagues. After the nerve-wracking night she had, she finally felt a sense of relief.

With her new phone in hand, Allison immediately reached out to Breanna.

"Allison?" Breanna's voice was a mix of relief and tears. "Are you okay? I was so worried when I couldn't reach you last night. I was scared something happened and even ended up calling the police. Where are you now?" Allison didn't want to drag others into her mess or make her friends worry, so she left out the part about being kidnapped by Chris. She replied gently, "I'm okay now. I'm sorry, something unexpecte up fast night, and I couldn't pick up."

Breanna let out a relieved sigh. "Aş long as you're okay. Allison asked, "Where are you now?" "I'm at the hotel." "Sendthe address. I'll swing by." Breanna sent over the address.

After leaving the Fisher place, an Owens family driver had taken them to the hospital. When she left, she took the car with her. Allison

punched the address into the GPS; the hotel was just a ten minute drive away.
