Chapter 476
Perhaps having experienced much in life, Gerard showed little expression when mentioning Jonah Lindsay.
Reflecting on it now, something must have happened to Jonah when he visited Cloudcrest last year. Otherwise,
his condition wouldn't have worsened so suddenly after returning.
With this thought, Gerard frowned slightly, pondering what Jonah might have gone through.
Nanson looked up at Gerard, "So, your father cto Cloudcrest looking for your mother?"
Gerard nodded, "I think that's likely. He wouldn't have cto Cloudcrest for no reason."
"Did he see your mom?" Nanson continued, "After all these years, your mom might still be single, or she could
have remarried and started a new family. Maybe your dad couldn't handle that and that's why his health
worsened."
Originally, Nanson had assumed Gerard's father was a negligent man, indifferent to Gerard's mother for so many
years. But now, it seemed that wasn't quite the case. Gerard's father hadn't had an easy life either.
Nanson took a bite of peanuts and continued, "Or perhaps your dad didn't find your mom in Cloudcrest, and his
condition worsened, forcing him to return to Capital City."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtUpon hearing this, Gerard's expression shifted, "Mr. Yeager, which of these possibilities do you think is more
likely?"
Was it the shock of seeing his mother remarried that drove his father back to Capital City, or was it his father's
deteriorating health?
Nanson sipped his drink, "I think both are quite likely. It's been nineteen years; it's natural for your mom to
remarry. If she was still waiting all this time, she'd be an exceptionally rare woman."
Gerard took a sip of his drink too. "But are there really people like that? Who wouldn't marry for nineteen years?"
"Absolutely!" Nanson exclaimed, "I have a sister who was deceived by scoundrel when she was young. She had a
daughter, my eldest niece. After the scoundrel disappeared, she raised the child alone and is still single. It's a
shshe never met someone as decent as your dad!"
Nanson sighed, reflecting on his sister Carole's hardships. She had been duped by a rogue early in life and later
endured the heartache of a hospital mix-up with her child. Thankfully, Anthea had returned. Rebecca, on the
other hand, had been a terrible influence, convincing Carole to sell blood and even her kidney. Without Anthea,
who knows what kind of life they might be living now.
Gerard looked at Nanson in surprise, not having realized Nanson had stories of his own.
Nanson smiled, patting Gerard on the shoulder, "So, Gerry, as men, we need to
be responsible. Don't ever abandon your family. If you get involved, you must take responsibility."
Nanson was indeed a man of principle, though he had yet to find his own happiness.
"Yes, Mr. Yeager, | understand," Gerard replied with determination.
"Have you tried asking your grandmother about your mom?" Nanson inquired.
"I have," Gerard nodded. "But my grandmother really dislikes my mother. She even lined up a stepmother and
stepsister for me. She likes that woman, but | don't."
Nanson furrowed his brow, "It seems the root of your family issues lies with your grandmother."
From Gerard's words, it was clear that his grandmother held strong prejudices. She never approved of Gerard's
mother and had always blocked their reunion. Fortunately, Gerard was a good kid who never gave up on finding
his mom.
"Exactly," Gerard agreed.
Nanson continued, "To solve this, you need to start with your grandmother. Gerry, you're a good kid. | believe
your mom, like my sister is a good woman. Never give up on finding her, and don't let either of you live with
regrets."
