Chapter 579
Chapter 579
Sebastian walked over and stopped in front of her. As he reached out, Sofia instinctively backed away. “What are
you doing?” she asked.
His warm fingertip brushed across her neck, and in a low voice, he asked, “Who did this to you?”
“Huh?” Hearing Sebastian's words, Sofia instinctively touched her neck.
“Did you go find Dan?”
Sofia remained silent. She was fine without mentioning Dan, but bringing up that guy made her recall how he
almost went too far.
During the fight last night, while others might not have noticed, Sofia clearly felt it. Every move Dan made was
intended to be deadly, which was why she didn’t hold back and knocked him out.

What a joke. Dan was the man she once cherished in her heart, carefully preserving their shared memories. Yet,
he was also the man who tried to bring her harm.
Sofia took a deep breath. “I went to get something from him.”
“Richard's documents? Do you think there's any point in getting them back now?”
Sofia said, “I don’t think it's any use either, but Richard keeps buggingfor them, acting like I'm crazy if |
don’t. The way he hassledyesterday, it seemed like he wouldn't let it go until I got the files back.”
Sebastian asked, “Did you get it back?”
“No, | knocked him out, and didn’t get the documents.”
She had to admit that Dan was pretty tough. Even after getting beaten up like that, he still didn’t give back the
documents. Now Richard had even more reason to keep bugging Sofia.
Sebastian said, “Don’t go looking for him anymore.”
Sofia’s expression faltered. Then she nodded. “OK, | won't go.”
The words seemed simple, but they held Sofia’s silent determination. A decision to let go and feel relieved. Dan
had been in her heart for so many years, and now it had cdown to this.
She had cherished the wrong person. She just had to let it go, otherwise, it would keep humiliating herself. That
was not Sofia’s style.

Sebastian left. Sofia turned and went inside, where Stephanie was still on the couch. As soon as Sofia walked in,
she saw Stephanie leaning over the couch back, eagerly looking at her.
Stephanie was clearly waiting for Sofia. From Sofia’s perspective, Stephanie seemed like a guilty kitten, pitifully
resting ber paws on the sofa. Sofia initially wanted to tease her a bit, but seeing her like this, she couldn't bring
herself to do it.
“Alright, | know Sebastian was picking on you. It’s not your fault you're not related here,” Sofia said as she ruffled
Stephanie's hair. “If he bothers you again, just tell me... oh, never mind!”
If someone else was bullying Stephanie, Sofia could stand up for herself. But with Sebastian, there was no way
she could. Stephanie noticed Sofia’s messy hair and reached out to fix it. “Did you get into a fight with Dan last

Sofia nodded. “Yeah, I did.”
Stephanie asked, “Did you win?”

That was what Stephanie really wanted to know. But seeing Sofia’s messy hair, Stephanie was genuinely
concerned. Before Sofia could say anything, Stephanie noticed the marks on her neck. “Oh no, did he strangle
you?”
“No, it wasn’t Dan. It was Richard who did it,” Sofia clarified. She was honest and didn’t falsely accuse anyone,
as Dan hadn't touched her last night.
