Chapter 420 420: Visiting her home...

Davis finished packing every single item Jessica had in the hospital ward without her lifting a finger.

Her gaze, however, had been trained on him the whole time, sharp and deliberate, as though the slightest

distraction might result in a fatal accident.

Once he was done, he turned around to face her, his eyes softening in a way few ever saw.

Jessica felt unsettled with the warmth and softness of his gaze. Carefully she averted hers but she felt the heat

creeping up her cheek.

Davis sighed quietly. "Babe, are you set?"

Jessica gave a small nod. Davis stretched out his hand toward her. "Let's go," he said gently.

She stared at the hand, her heart skipping a beat. After a deep exhale, she slowly placed her own hand in his.

With a firm, steady grip, Davis helped her rise to her feet. "Let's go," he murmured, casting her a meaningful

glance. She nodded again.

Together, they left the ward, her hand secured in his while he carried her bag in the other.

As they walked through the hallway, Jessica couldn't help stealing glances at Davis with her thoughts racing...

At times she wondered how the cold, untouchable CEO of the Allen Group had ended up as her husband.

At other times she doubted it altogether. With no business ties, no connection between them, how could their

paths have crossed, let alone led to marriage?

But most troubling of all was the effect his presence had on her. Everything about him stirred her heart, making

her feel unsettled and sometimes overwhelming, a nature she had first noticed during his quiet companionship

in the hospital.

Though, he might not utter any word but she could tell every one of his emotions right from where she is.

Taking a deep breath, she pushed the storm of doubts aside.

For now, I'll just go with the flow, she decided.

Outside the hospital lobby, the cool air grazed her skin and she shivered lightly...an action that didn't escape

Davis' eyes.

"Are you feeling cold?" he asked anxiously.

Jessica shook her head quickly. Davis said nothing more.

Instead, he placed her bag in the backseat and courteously opened the passenger door for her.

She gave a small nod of appreciation before slipping inside.

Jessica shook her head. Davis dropped her bag at the backseat and opened the front seat for her. She gave a

curt nod in appreciation as she boarded.

Leaning in, Davis bent over to fasten her seatbelt. His cologne, clean and masculine, assaulted her senses,

making her breath hitch.

It was oddly familiar. She swallowed hard. | guess | need to keep sdistance from him until | understand

Once Davis settled into the driver's seat, the car pulled away from the hospital. Jessica had her gaze fixed on the

passing scenery.

Yet, something gnawed at her; the streets, the buildings, even the skyline felt different, as though the city had

shifted while she was asleep.

What exactly happened? Her thoughts swirled, searching for answers though it seemed elusive.

As far as she knew, it wasn't rebirth, neither did she transmigrate. What sort of accident was she in?

Why had so many things changed before she woke up?

God, what sort of memory was she forgetting?

The more she thought about it, the more she couldn't recollect. It was as though such a memory never existed.

Would she be able to find any clues from her house? But she doubted he might have known the place...

She had always kept that base hidden, and she was sure it had remained that way.

Maybe one of these days, she would call Richard over and they would both visit there.

Seeing her lost in thought, Davis sighed. Without offering any comment, he diverted to another lane and headed

towards her house.

Noting the scenery getting familiar, her head snapped to her side. "Where are we going?"

Davis shrugged. "I guess you might want to visit your house to find answers, so | will accompany you."

Jessica's gaze narrowed. "Why do you think so?"

"My wife might have lost her memory, but her habit never changed." He smirked.

The words sent a strange ripple through her chest. He wasn't entirely wrong. But still...

The truth was, Davis hadn't planned the detour until the last moment.

He had caught the subtle flicker of curiosity in her eyes and decided to take a gamble.

He hope that, having lived together in that house for a long time, there might be striggers of what she had

lost.

Jessica's gaze narrowed. "Are we actually married? Where's the proof?" she asked.

She had been wondering why everyone continued to say they were married, yet none, including Davis, had been

able to give proof of their wedding photos or marriage certificate.

At her words, Davis stiffened, guilt flashing across his features. Recalling the circumstances of their marriage left

a bitter taste in his mouth.

At firstfirst, he wasn't worried about the marriage certificate because it never mattered to him...it seemed

pointless.

But when he had later grown interested and care, Ethan told him it was in Jessica's possession.

When he confronted her back then, she had brushed him off, saying she kept it safe with her because she

doubted he wouldn't tear it apart in anger.

"Babe... the certificate is with you," he admitted, voice low, helpless.

"With me?" she echoed, her brows knitting. She searched her foggy mind, but no recollection of such a situation.

Jessica shook her head in frustration. "I don't remember. How do | know where to even find it?" Her voice cracked

with exasperation.

"You don't have to force it," Davis said softly. "We can always marry again."

One hour later, the car rolled up to the high-security gates of her mansion.

To her astonishment, the guards allowed them entry without hesitation as though he had been a regular visitor

to the mansion.

As though he read her mind, "Babe, we spent a countless days here, including during my recovery," he said.

Jessica's brow furrowed. "Recovery? What about it?" she asked with curiosity.

Davis pulled out his phone and handed it to her. Jessica took it, glanced at him briefly. "It's locked," she

muttered.

"Try unlocking it. You usually do," Davis said with a smirk, though tension laced his eyes.

Jessica sighed but instinctively let her fingers slide over the keypad.

Click.

The screen lit up instantly.

Jessica's face paled. It couldn't be... she had known that most of her reactions towards Davis stemmed from her

subconscious thoughts.

Likely, she had done so a few times in the past. But with the phone passkey episode she shrugged her

shoulders..

The car slowly pulled at the parking lot and they alighted.

Stepping out, she was greeted warmly by the security team. The reception was grand, respectful, too familiar for

someone she supposedly had no ties to.

With a few new faces among the team, Davis introduced them one by one, explaining their profiles with ease.

At the foot of the staircase, Jessica paused, her gaze snagging on something. "A ramp?"

She turned toward Davis, puzzled. "Why do we have a ramp here?"

"Cupstairs," he urged gently. "Check the phone. There are plenty of photos and videos that explain

everything."

As they entered the bedroom, Jessica froze. The room was nothing like the one she remembered.... totally

different from her memory.

But most surprising was the attached kitchen with its appliances lowered, designed for someone unable to stand

tall unlike the normal kitchen.

Settling onto the edge of the bed, Jessica scrolled through the videos on Davis' phone.

One after another played before her eyes. Somewhere along the line, her head began to throb, fragments of

memory flashing like shards of broken glass.
