Chapter 991

In Mr. Garcia's office, Mr. Richard was recording a voice message for Flora: "Hey, Flora! Your ID badge is ready. No

need to swing by and pick it up; I'll bring it to you myself! No biggie. If you've got the time, just pop by the

University of Maple Grove for a lecture." A knock interrupted him.

Mr. Richard glanced up to see Blake at the door. He set his phone down, and his cheerful demeanor quickly

shifted.

"Professor Blake, what can | help you with?"

Blake strode in, cutting straight to the chase: "Mr. Garcia, | saw the university's announcement, and | have a

concern." Mr. Richard motioned for her to continue.

"| just don't think Flora should be an honorary professor at the University of Maple Grove!" Blake inhaled deeply

before continuing, "She's just a freshman. Has she even published a paper? Does she even know what major

research databases are? How can someone like that be an honorary professor?"

She had struggled so much to beca full professor, and yet Flora was handed an honorary title just like that.

It didn't sit right with her.

"If | appointed Flora as an honorary professor, it's because she earned it," Mr. Richard explained calmly. "Winning

a national championship proves her remarkable skills, and her academic writing is top-notch. Professor Blake,

while your paper writing is excellent, it doesn't quite match up to hers."

Mr. Richard had heard from Dr. Ray that Flora's paper-writing prowess was unmatched, not just in the medical lab

but throughout Austenberg. Even the lab students had their papers reviewed and polished by Flora.

"Mr. Richard, you're being too biased towards Flora!" Blake chuckled, exasperated. "A freshman better at writing

papers than me?"

She prided herself on her paper-writing skills, believing no one could outdo her. Well, except for the elusive FL.

But FL was supposed to be in their fifties or sixties. Blake had modeled many of her works after FL's,

perfecting her mimicry to the point it was nearly unnoticeable. She had

even snagged several awards with her Fleinspired papers. By

an

twenty-six, she was an associate professor at the University of Maple Grove. However, FL's lack of recent

publications frustrated her. In Austenberg, aside from FL, she considered herself the best, and no one dared to

claim otherwise.

Blake felt Mr. Richard was

unreasonably siding with Flora and

decided to cut to the chase: "Mr. Richard, making Flora an honorary professor will only make the

University of Maple Grove a laughing

stock! It's better to revoke her title."

"We can claim it was a clerical error or pin the blon Flora. This way, the university's reputation stays intact."

She didn't notice Mr. Richard's face growing darker by the second.

He let out a dry, humorless laugh: "Are you trying to tellhow to do my job?"

"No, I-"

"Hah, blaming it all on Flora, you've got snerve."

A cold chuckle echoed from the doorway.

"Dean Jules!"

Blake quickly greeted him upon seeing Jules.

Jules, a renowned medical expert and the nominal head of the University of Maple Grove's Medical School, was

someone she had always wanted to connect with but hadn't had the chance. Jules ignored her greeting, walked

straight to a small sofa, sat down, then fixed his gaze on her: "What did you just say? Flora doesn't deserve to be

an honorary professor?"

Blake had spent the year advancing

her studies abroad and was

oblivious to Jules' connection with Flora. She sensed a hint of something in Jules' tone but

brushed it off, replying, "Yes, Flora doesn't deserve it."
