Chapter 1198

After swallowing the pills, Flora felt no different. She eyed the bottle of potent medicine, hesitating for a moment

before deciding to throw caution to the wind. She tipped the bottle back and downed the remaining nine pills-an

audacious move that would have surely made Jules scream if he'd witnessed it! Yet, nothing happened. Flora

frowned. Ten pills at once should have had seffect, right? It was as though the medicine was a dud on her,

like her body was just absorbing it without any consequence.

Feeling frustrated, Flora lay down to sleep, but instead of finding rest, she felt increasingly hot, a feverish heat

building with every passing moment... Suddenly, she jolted awake and sat up with a start!

Downstairs, Jules was worried about Flora and had confided in Connor about her request for the potent medicine.

"Martial World?" Connor repeated, his gaze pausing, not in shock but with a mix of emotions, as he tightened his

grip on the newspaper.

"Yeah," Jules confirmed. "Flora took a whole bottle of that strong stuff. I'm worried something might happen to

her. Keep an eye on her if you can."

After chatting with Connor a bit more, Jules left. Connor sat on the couch for several minutes, deep in thought,

before heading upstairs to his study.

He switched on his computer and typed in a URL. A video call window popped up, and he answered it.

"Boss! You finally logged in!" said the person on the other end, whose dark complexion was offset by bright white

teeth and lively eyes, giving him a humorous appearance. He wore an army green jacket with a badge on his

chest-a jasmine flower with the letters "FIND." Martial World wasn't quite ancient, but it was behind the times,

with little advanced technology and minimal surveillance. Many factions wielded power, and disputes often

spilled over into the ordinary world, causing chaos and even danger for regular folks. That changed a decade ago

when FIND emerged, creating an enforcement team with the muscle to keep the major families in line. Those

who didn't comply faced electric shocks and a good thrashing. Since then, Martial World had calmed down.

Families feared FIND and dared not act rashly.

The man speaking was Jonathan, the head of FIND's enforcement team-a nthat carried a lot of weight.

"Any unrest in Martial World lately?" Connor asked.

"Things have been pretty calm, but the Schuler family sent people down, supposedly to a medical base,"

Jonathan replied.

"What's their angle?" Connor asked, not particularly worried, as the Schuler family was small potatoes.

"Boss, have you forgotten that every two years, each family in Martial World picks new recruits? They got our

approval yesterday. Word is, they're interested in this year's globat champ, someone named

Flora." e

"She's making waves, even in Martial World," Jonathan added.

u!

Flora's fake death had caused a stir, mobilizing global forces-a spectacle big enough to catch everyone's

attention.

Connor's eyes flashed with a cold

determination. The martial families picking ordinary people was just a way to exploit them. Interested in Flora?

They didn't measure up.

He was determined to keep Flora away from Martial World and her past. He'd been by her side in Austenberg for

ten years, but now, it seemed like his grip was slipping.

"Boss, are you thinking of going back to Martial World?" Jonathan asked, hopeful.

Connor didn't answer, just tapped his fingers on the desk thoughtfully.

Suddenly, a scream pierced the air from outside!

Connor's eyes narrowed. He ended the call and walked to the window, flinging it open.

In the garden below, Beck was clutching his face, screaming in pain. The commotion was loud enough to draw

everyone in the villa.

"What are you yelling about?" Connor barked, annoyed.

"No, no, boss, there's a ghost! A ghost!" Beck stammered, shaking with fear.

"Roy, are you seeing things?" someone asked.

"No, I'm not! There really is a ghost!"

Moss approached and felt Beck's forehead. "Your temperature's up-are you sick and seeing things?"
