Chapter 1132 Rescue, Trap in the Trap

They were idle individuals in society with previous criminal records and had been to jail. They didn't care much

about adding another crime to their records as long as they could get paid. However, carrying the burden of a

murder case was different from other crimes. They still needed to make a living, even though they were already in

a hopeless situation. They had elderly parents at home, and no matter how heartless or unfilial they might have

been, they couldn't just abandon them.

The captain didn't answer his words, but his expression said it all. "So now you have a chance in front of you. Do

you want to cherish it or not?"

...

Half an hour later, Jack and Matthew carried a bag of bottled mineral water up the mountain.

As they looked at the almost dilapidated door in front of them, the two exchanged a glance. Their eyes met briefly

before quickly looking away. Jack nervously raised his hand and discreetly pushed the small black object inside his

pocket, pretending to be composed as he pushed open the door and walked in.

Inside the room, there was a small stable on the messy cement floor, and Owen was sitting on it. He looked over in

the direction of the sound and immediately frowned. "Why have you been gone for so long!"

Being slightly older, Matthew bent down to place the water in the corner and handed him a bottle, saying, "The

small shop at the village entrance opened late. We had to wait for the owner for quite a while."

Owen unscrewed the cap and took a sip. He looked worriedly at Jack, who was standing by the side. "No one saw

you, right?"

Jack's heart skipped a beat. He was so nervous that there was something wrong with his mood. He laughed and

said, "How is that possible."

Fortunately, his smile was full of disdain and didn't sound like a flaw. Owen heaved a sigh of relief and said, "Be

careful. If you're discovered, you won't be able to get anything!"

"Got it."

The three of them sat in different directions, and the room was eerily quiet, with no sound at all. Owen quickly

finished drinking a bottle of water, then raised his hand and tossed the empty bottle on the ground, creating a loud

'clang' that startled everyone.

Jack trembled slightly. Though it was subtle, Owen still noticed it. He squinted his eyes, and with his narrowed gaze

fixed on Jack, he asked, "What's going on with you?"

Jack did not look at him but played with the stone in his hand. "Nothing." "You two seem to be talking less since you

came back," Owen was perceptive, especially in such situations. He became even more cautious and attentive.

Seeing Jack's tense expression reaching a limit, Matthew smoothly picked up the conversation, "He might be

hungry. We wanted to buy some food, but we ran out of money and came back empty- handed."

"Hungry?" Owen snorted and leaned back against the wall. "Endure it. For the money, hunger is nothing!"

"Have the woman's family contacted you yet?" Matthew followed up, "It's been two days and one night already. Just

keeping her locked up like this, she won't last much longer."

Owen's expression turned somewhat unsightly at the mention of this matter. He exhaled deeply and said, "Wait a

bit longer. They'll be here soon."

At this point, they had no retreat. He let the child go and captured this woman, and now he could only think this

way.

"I'll go check on her. She better not have passed out," By saying this, Matthew got up and walked towards the

cement room at the back of the shed.

Jack's gaze followed him until he disappeared, but when he turned his head back, he suddenly saw Owen getting up

and walking toward the corner of the wall.

He thought Owen was going to attend to his physiological needs, but to his surprise, Owen was heading toward the

bag of bottled mineral water.

Jack's pupils contracted, and he got up as well. Looking at Owen's bent posture, the muscles on his face almost

froze, but he pretended to be relaxed and said, "Owen, do you want some water?"

Owen felt someone approaching, and as he was about to bend down, he straightened up and turned around to see

Jack walking toward him. His eyes looked deep as he asked, "Well, you want to have some too?"

It was a very normal sentence, but it sounded dangerous in Jack's ears. He raised his head with a bitter smile. "Yes,

I'm a little thirsty..."
