Sophia and Jason cdownstairs, and Sophia ran over to Estelle with a happy greeting.
Everyone seemed to be in high spirits today, despite the uncertainty and lingering anxiety.
Jason and Jonathan exchanged greetings and sat down to chat over tea, while Estelle talked with Sophia.
Estelle asked Sophia, “Where's Evelyn?”
Sophia glanced around. “She was here at breakfast, and she seemed to be doing okay. | don't know where she went.”
Old Mr. Quintin looked over. “She’s having a hard time. Let's not force her. Let her have stalone to cool down.”

At eight o'clock, Sylvia's phone rang. It was Gabriel, telling her toe downstairs.
A few minutes later, Sylvia got into his car. “Where's Gia?”
“She’s going there directly,” Gabriel said, his eyes on the road. “We'll get sbreakfast first, then meet up with her.”
Sylvia said, “I've already eaten.”
Gabriel frowned and turned to look at her.
Sylvia met his gaze calmly. “What is it?”
“Nothing,” Gabriel said flatly, pulling the car away from the curb.
There was a breakfast place not far from her building. Sylvia suggested, “The food here is pretty good. You can go eat, and I'll wait
in the car.”
The man’s tone was clipped. “I'm not hungry.”
“Aren't you?” Sylvia tilted her head slightly.
“No,” he said, focusing on driving, as if he didn't want to talk to her.
