Sophia ran over, too, smiling. “I think Old Mr. Jarvis is absolutely right. If Sylvia is really Gia's daughter, wouldn't that be the
best possible oue? And even if she isn’t, | think after a night to cool down, Gia won't be in such a rush to leave. So it's a
good thing, right?”
A smile finally touched Old Mr. Quintin's lips. “Yes.”
Estelle noticed Evelyn standing off to the side, her head bowed, lost in thought.

Sophia was still marveling at how she had been shocked to see Sylvia and Gia standing together, remarking on how much they
looked alike.
Old Mr. Quintin quickly asked, “You think they look alike too?”
Sophia nodded at once. “Yes, very much so!”
Remembering something, Old Mr. Quintin said excitedly to Mr. Carnes, “During the New Year, wasn't Sylvia at your house? When we
video-chatted, | saw her. | thought she looked familiar even then!”
As the group grew more animated, Evelyn cast a dark look at Sophia and walked away alone.
Estelle excused herself to Jonathan and followed her.
She found Evelyn sitting on a courtyard bench, hugging her knees and crying softly.
“Evelyn,” Estelle called out.
Evelyn looked up, quickly wiping her tears. “Estelle,” she choked out.
Estelle sat beside her. “I'm also responsible for this,” she said, her lips pressed together. “Bringing you back from Citadel and
waiting so long to do the test... | let you get attached to this family.”
Evelyn bit her lip, crying. “I did get attached to Grandpa. | really started to think of this as my home.”
Estelle looked at her. “I can help you find your birth parents.”
Evelvn shook her head and arabbed Estelle’s sleeve. her tone almost pleading. “Estelle. | don't want to leave the Quintin family. |
