The cars started moving, gradually leaving the estate.

Inside the car, Xavier looked at Norah. “Do you enjoy this feeling of sneaking around?”

Norah shook her head. “If you just agree, I'll go tell my mom right now, and we can be open about our relationship.”

Xavier said flatly, “It’s a joyous day for the Lamont family. You should let your mother be happy for a couple of days.”

Norah pursed her lips, her large eyes darting around. “How do you know she’ll be unhappy if | tell her? With two happy events, she

might be so thrilled she'll drink a few extra glasses of wine.”

Xavier's expression was cool. “Norah, you're not a child anymore. You're an adult. You should think more about practical matters.”

How could Mrs. Lamont possibly be happy about her daughter marrying a man seven or eight years her senior, and from an older

generation at that?

Mrs. Lamont clearly preferred that young man, Adrian.

Norah suddenly leaned closer to him, lightly biting her full, pink lips. Her eyes were moist as she asked in a low voice, “Do | look

pretty today?”

Her hair was braided back from her temples, revealing a smooth forehead and a beautiful face. She wore diamond-tassel clips by

her ears, and as she spoke, the light from the diamonds sparkled in her eyes, making them shine brilliantly.

Xavier was backlit, which made his eyes look even deeper. His voice was huskier and lower than usual. “Sit properly.”

Norah obediently sat back, smiling sweetly. “I'll take that as a yes. And... you look incredibly handstoday too. Absolutely

stunning.”

She waspletely uninhibited, even with the driver in the front. Xavier, however, felt his ears grow warm. He turned to look out

the window, his jaw tightening slightly, and his hands on his lap unconsciously clenched.

Norah also turned to look out the window, her happiness evident even in her profile.

An hour later, the cars entered the city center of C City. The trees along the streets were decorated with colorful lights, and the

city’s billboards had all been changed to display congratulatory messages like “Happy Wedding” and “A Hundred Years of

Happiness Together.”

As the city’s landmark building, it was draped in colorful silks from top to bottom, hundreds of meters long, which rippled like

waves in the wind, a truly spectacular sight.

Most people on the street were holding red, heart-shaped balloons and glow sticks. Swere even handing out wedding candies

and pastries.
