As he held the rings between his fingers, they touched. The light from the pink diamond reflected onto his ring, and a few words

Jonathan's fingers trembled. Those words felt as if they were carved into his heart, each stroke deep and permanent.
His heart quivered with a searing pain, like a fire consuming him, threatening to set his very blood ablaze.
Jonathan opened his palm, and the two rings slid into it. He slowly closed his hand around them, his throat working as he leaned
back in his chair, swallowing repeatedly.

It was a long tbefore the sky began to darken. Jonathan finally took out his phone and sent Estelle a message.
[I saw the gift. | love it.]
Loved it to the point of madness.
Estelle replied quickly: [I'm glad you like it.]
Jonathan: [What about the wedding rings | had made?]
