Chapter 31 I Can End the Contract Early
Mu Zhi and Lu Jinye had agreed on the details of their divorce long before.
However, that discussion happened during the afterglows of clam jamming. And they had half a year
before the actual divorce. Mu Zhi had not taken that conversation seriously.
But now… She had to seriously consider how she should broach the subject with Lu Jinye.

Mu Zhi contemplated how she would bring this up to Lu Jinye the entire time she drove home.
When she reached the villa and saw his car parked in the garage, her mind went blank.
She bit her lip and slowly walked up to the door, entered the passcode and opened the door.
Lu Jinye was sitting on the couch and watched Mu Zhi walk in. He raised his eyebrow at her, “You’re
home.”
His opening statement left her speechless.
“Were… Were you waiting for me?”
Mu Zhi hesitated before asking.
“Yes.”
Lu Jinye replied softly.
“How long have you been waiting for?”
Mu Zhi was filled with guilt. She did not come home for the entire night. She did not know how to explain
herself if he decided to probe deeper.
But Lu Jinye did not say much, instead he replied, “Not long.”
This was a lie.
He had sat here waiting wince last night when he got home.
“That’s good. You scared me…”
Mu Zhi rubbed her chest and turned to look at Lu Jinye. She walked towards him, blinked slowly and
asked, “Honey… Let’s…”
The words ‘let’s get a divorce’ would not leave her lips.
At that moment, Lu Jinye’s phone rang. He gave it a cold glance before walking out to answer it.
It would appear that that was an important phone call because he never returned. And Mu Zhi missed
her chance.

Xiao Qingqing had a sleepless night. She spent the night thinking about the situation between her, Lu
Jinye and Mu Zhi and decided that she was at a disadvantage.
But! What else could she do?
She took out her phone and scrolled through her contact list. She was looking for someone who could fill
her in with what had happened while she was gone.
In the end, she landed on a name. She was undecided and hesitated quite a bit before biting the bullet.
Her call was answered within the first ring. She heard her name being called out.

Xiao Qingqing held her composure. She traced the outline of her lips before replying, “Yes, yes. Shen
Mobo, I’m back.”
“Where are you now? I want to see you.”
There was a sense of urgency from the man’s voice. But Xiao Qingqing was as calm as ever. “Let’s…
let’s meet at a café then.”
“Sure. The corner café at the left of the main street.”
“Okay.”
Xiao Qingqing hung up as soon as she could.
But Shen Mobo at the other end of the line was ecstatic. He had his butler pick out five outfits from which
he would select. He got dressed and almost flew to the aforementioned café to wait for Xiao Qingqing.
Xiao Qingqing hung up and went to the bathroom to shower. She took her time to apply a light layer of
makeup and admired herself. She was not surprised. She had spent quite a lot of money to preserve her
good looks. There was barely any change at all. But why… Why did she feel that Lu Jinye was slowly
drifting away from her?
When Xiao Qingqing finally reached the café, Shen Mobo was already in their usual seat by the window
waiting for her to arrive.
Xiao Qingqing made her way towards him. He eagerly pulled out her chair and waited for her to take a
seat before pushing it in. He excitedly asked her, “When did you get back? Does Jinye know?”

Xiao Qingqing lowered her gaze and asked.
“Mobo, these few years… Have we changed?”
Her head was lowered when she asked him. It took her a while before she could raise her head to look at
him. Her beautiful eyes were clouded as she stared at him. Shen Mobo gazed into her eyes. Her eyes
were as bright as before. Maybe it was because of the light but her smile looked a little flirtatious.
She was the Xiao Qingqing he remembered, the one he loved.
“Maybe others have, but I have not.”
Shen Mobo said with conviction. His passionate gaze did not drift from her.
Back in the day, Shen Mobo and Lu Jinye had met Xiao Qingqing at the same time. But Xiao Qingqing
had fallen for Lu Jinye at first sight.
If this was a movie, Shen Mobo was the love rival, fighting to win over her heart, a battle which he was
bound to lose.
“Then… What about Jinye?”
Xiao Qingqing bit her lip and looked at Shen Mobo. She was waiting for him to assure her that Lu Jinye
had not changed as well.
Shen Mobo looked at Xiao Qingqing for a while. He calmly decided, “Qingqing, if Jinye has changed. I
will fight for you! I am always on your side.”
Xiao Qingqing chuckled. She lowered her head once more and sipped her coffee.
Before warmly adding, “Then can you tell me about what’s going on before Jinye and Mu Zhi?”
Xiao Qingqing took a deep breath. She had decided that no matter what Shen Mobo would tell her, she
would not be dismayed. Instead, she would find a solution to this mess.
Shen Mobo took a deep breath as well, saying, “Jinye married Mu Zhi because of his father’s shares.
After you left Jinye, you know that he played around with girls, but he never took any of them seriously.”
These few words, while they held not much information, reassured Xiao Qingqing. She let out a sigh of
relief.
Xiao Qingqing nodded. “Then when will the arrangement between Jinye and Mu Zhi end?”
“If you want them to end it early, there are many ways you could go about it.”
Shen Mobo did not answer her question but his suggestion gave her a lot to think about!
