"Oh... So it turns out that we'll get a reward after every stage? I hope there will be enough stages to get as many rewards as possible." Luis smirked, greedily rubbing his palms as a golden glint appeared in his eyes.
The other Players approached them, one of them stepped forward and asked, "How will the loot be distributed? I hope you're not going to take all the most valuable?"
"Yeah, we realize the three of you are in charge here and we are also joined by Top-1, but I expect it will be fair." The young man with the big bow behind his back said, waving his hand.
Jane, Luis, and Dave looked at each other, then Jane nodded and said, "Fine, in that case, let's do this. If there's a powerful item under that barrier, whoever needs it the most will take it. For example, if there's a spear, Luis gets the reward, and the rest we divide equally among all."
The players looked at each other and, after a brief hesitation, nodded. They all wanted the main award of this stage too, but they knew they hadn't helped in any way in defeating the Royal Knight.
Tap.
Jane touched the barrier, it trembled, and a blue mist erupted, gradually revealing what was inside.
Everyone was slightly puzzled, but some had another emotion. Dave, with a wide grin, looked at the item lying in the center of the gold mountain.
"Looks like I got lucky this time." Dave stepped forward, heading toward the massive round stone shield with the moon sign.
"Well, obviously, this item is best suited to Dave, so let's distribute the rest." Jane said sternly as she glanced at the potions lying among the gold coins.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLuis patted Dave on the shoulder and headed toward Zayne. He looked at him for a while with a slight smile but said nothing.
"Do you need something?" Zayne threw his head back a bit.
Luis breathed, "Nah, nothing serious, I just don't understand something. Sounds like you knew about these ruins before we did, then why didn't you get a team together and clear this Dungeon first?"
"Hmm..." Zayne muttered at length, "I don't know about you, but I didn't have that much time to find sixteen people, and besides, it's pretty stupid to go into the Dungeon not being strong enough, isn't it?"
Luis nodded. He thought Zayne was hiding something, but he couldn't figure out what, and it annoyed him a little.
Clap.
Jane clapped her hands together, drawing attention to herself.
"Alright, let's move on. Don't forget that this is just the beginning." Jane exclaimed, waved her hand, and headed down the aisle.
Zayne stared coldly past Luis, leaving him behind. Luis glanced at him with a sharp gaze, but after a sigh, he came to his senses.
The group of seventeen moved forward down the long passageway, beyond which there were only ruined pillars and walls. Some were excited, some were slightly worried, and some remained completely calm.
Step.
As the last player entered the new territory, a barrier appeared behind them, closing the passage to them.
"What is that?" Jane muttered in confusion, looking at the eight symbols on the floor.
Each symbol represented one of the moon phase, going in circles and replacing each other. Beneath each symbol was a platform, slightly elevated above the ground, at step height.
"Eight phases of the moon, and there are sixteen of us..." Luis muttered, pondering why the conditions originally had exactly that number of people.
[You have reached the second stage of the ruins!]
[Stand on the platforms to begin the next stage!]
"Wait, let's look around first." Jane said sternly as she headed toward the walls of the grounds. They didn't need to hurry, so they could use these to secure themselves in case of danger.
However, after a few minutes, everyone was back to the beginning, they couldn't find anything, there were no clues, only slabs.
"Well, then, let's split into two, each pair will stand on one platform." Jane handed out orders, and everyone started looking for a partner.
Jane, Luis, and Dave didn't team up, they decided it would be better if they each took a separate platform, generally strengthening their team.
"Jane... I think we have one problem..." Luis said uncertainly, scratching the back of his head.
"Hmm?" Jane glanced at him in confusion.
Luis pointed to the side as everyone looked at Zayne, who was standing off to the side.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"And...? Zayne, just stand on the platform with someone, that's all. Even if mathematically it doesn't turn out very pretty, it doesn't mean anything. I'm sure the second trial will start anyway." Jane sighed with a wave of her hand.
Zayne stared at her for a while, then pointed to the center, "Well, I have a theory that another spot has been prepared for me."
Everyone turned around and saw the silhouette of a shattered moon, between eight slabs. It was the only sign under which there was no slab, almost entirely covered in dust.
"Hmm? What makes you think you should be the one to get up there?" Dave scratched his cheek puzzledly.
Zayne shrugged, "Well, let's just say it's the will of the Fate. If I'm wrong we'll find another way, but considering where we are, it's pretty obvious to me."
Zayne stepped forward, "Furthermore, we'll probably have to fight someone, this is Dungeon, so it's better if I deal with one enemy personally. Or, does someone want to replace me?" Zayne's cold gaze fell on each of them.
The players shook their heads, and Jane sighed.
"Whatever, let's get started already. We've wasted too much time on this already." Jane shook her head.
"Sure." Zayne stood in the center as for a moment his ring flashed brightly.
[All stoves activated!]
[Defeat your opponents to get the key!]
[The second stage begins!]
eαglesnᴏνel At the same moment, eight slabs flashed with blue light, and sixteen people disappeared in an unknown direction. Only Zayne was left here.
Zayne exhaled cold steam and looked away with a deep gaze. He seemed to be staring into a void, but for some reason, he knew there was something there.
