Chapter 465
"Vera, is there something you want to tell me?" Dominic's low voice cut through the silence, catching Vespera off
guard.
Vespera froze. The sudden exposure of her inner thoughts left her flustered. She hadn't had the tto mask her
expression as it was already written all over her face.
A while later, she finally answered, "No."
"Are you sure?" Dominic asked, his eyes narrowed.
"Yeah," responded Vespera.
Their eyes met, and his stare was intense. It was like he could see straight through her. At first, she tried to stay
composed, but under that intense gaze, her facade began to crumble. Her eyes began to flicker.
Before Vespera crumbled, she hooked her arms around Dominic's neck and kissed him hard. She tried to stick
her tongue in his mouth. Instead of waiting for her to pry his teeth open, he had already yielded and responded
fiercely. His kiss was dominant and hungry.

Vespera had meant to kiss Dominic dizzy so that he would stop interrogating her. But somehow, he ended up
being even more aggressive than she was.
Their kiss deepened. It was like a contest of who would kiss the other senseless first.
In their heated frenzy, what began as a simple embrace turned into them tumbling back onto the bed. Dominic
was still dressed in formal attire, while Vespera only wore a nightgown, which rode up to her waist as they fell
back onto the bed.
The metal of his belt buckle pressed against her lower stomach, shocking her back to her senses.
"Let's eat," mumbled Vespera, pushing Dominic's waist. Maybe the distraction worked.
Dominic wiped the moisture from Vespera's lips. With a low and hoarse voice, he asked, "Why did you kiss me?
Was it to work up an appetite?"
For a second, Vespera wasn't sure who the crazy one was here.
Dominic reached toward the edge of the pillow and grabbed the ointment. He pulled Vespera into his lap, letting
her sit between his legs. Then, he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
He twisted the cap off and said, "Let's apply sointment first. You'll enjoy the meal more after."
"No," protested Vespera, but Dominic was already squeezing the ointment onto his fingertip.
In his arms, she felt small as she was trapped with no way to escape. He gently applied the ointment. As he
watched her face flush, he leaned closer and murmured into her ear "Vera, did your mom ask you to break up
with me?" s
It was such a direct question, and Dominic asked it in such an inappropriate moment that
Vespera's brain short-circuited. It felt ike being thrown off a roller coaster mid-air. s
She stammered a few seconds later, "What did you say?"
Dominic questioned, "Are you still not willing to tellthe truth?"
"What truth? | don't..." Before Vespera could finish speaking, she shrieked. Tears sprang to her eyes.
Dominic's touch softened further. He said, "If you won't say it, I'll ask her myself."
Vespera grabbed his arm and said quickly, "No, I'll tell you."
Dominic's hand slipped up to cup the back of Vespera's neck, tilting her head so she had to look at him. He didn't
let her turn away. He said, "Tellthen."
Vespera took a deep breath. Trying not to tremble too much, she said, "My mom thinks we aren't a good match.
She toldto quit my job and that we should break up."
Even now, Vespera couldn't bring herself to say the other option Wanda had laid
out,
Dominic asked, wanting to know Vespera's thoughts, "Do you want to break up with me?"
Vespera didn't answer. Several emotions flickered across her face. There was confusion, conflict, doubt, and fear.
Dominic chuckled. He lowered his head and kissed Vespera again,, giving her what she needed. He only let go
when she calmed down and closed her eyes, leainto his chest. s
"It seems like you're having a hard tlettinggo," mumbled Dominic.
Vespera didn't open her eyes. Instead, she rubbed her cheek against his jaw and whispered, "What woman
wouldn't have a hard tletting go of a man like you?"
Dominic chuckled again. That was enough for him for now. No matter what Vespera wanted, as long as she still
wasn't ready to leave, it meant he still had time.
Testing the waters, he asked, "If that's how you feel, have you ever thought about what it would be like to be
together long-term?"
