Chapter 443
In the wavering candlelight, the rubber mask with strands of hair attached clung to the head of a woman who
looked bald at first glance. At that moment, a sharp dagger was pressed against her neck. She didn't dare to
move. Even her breathing becshallow.
Dominic looked at the woman and frowned. Meanwhile, Vespera, standing by the door, finally regained her
composure and stepped closer. She poked the woman's cheek. The smooth yet stiff skin was warm. The woman
was clearly alive.
"You aren't dead, Mrs. Morgan?" Vespera asked.
Belinda, or rather, the wealthy Jitanese woman, Sabrina, who had orchestrated this terror, stayed silent as she
lowered her head.
Vespera was enraged. She ripped off the mask and grabbed a fistful of hair before yanking Sabrina's head back.
She said, "How did you becMs. Belinda? Are you playing two roles? Is it fun? Was scaringwith ghost
tricks fun?"
As Vespera spoke, she pressed the dagger deeper. Any deeper and there would be blood.
Sabrina's face turned pale as she felt the dagger on her skin. "I'm with the association. Killand none of you

Dominic took over and nudged the blade deeper. A bead of blood immediately slid down Sabrina's throat. He
said, "Let's see whether or not the association would stand up for you if | killed you."
Dominic was smiling, but his tone was chilling. He added, "The winner has more power than a corpse after all."
Sabrina widened her eyes in fear. Rather than the pain, the crushing pressure of knowing Dominic might actually
kill her in the next second was more terrifying.
When confronted with death, people tend to break. And now, Sabrina trembled and pleaded, "It's just an
entrance test. I'm just carrying out orders. | never meant to target Ms. Gildon."
"Just a test? Just carrying out orders?" Vespera snorted and continued, "Are you checking how brave | am? Did
the association order you to kill me? That can't be. I'm just a secretary who calong with her boss to a
networking event. What aboutcould possibly be worth all this effort and hatred from the association?"
Sabrina was rendered speechless. A few minutes later, she finally spoke up diffidently. "I never meant to kill you.
There must be smisunderstandings." Vespera responded, "We have your men. Are you sure you want to
remain stubborn?"
Sabrina had nothing left to say. At the start, Vespera had fallen for it. The substance in the air had messed with
her emotions. She had actually begun to believe that ghosts might be real.
However, the moment she stepped outside the castle and saw the clean ground, her mind cleared. The situation
wasn't as complicated as she had imagined. It was all an illusion.
Sabrina only faked her own death to beca ghost. In that way, she could continue appearing as Belinda and
use fear as a weapon. As a ghost, she could kill anyone she wanted without suspicion, too.
The eerie knocking outside their door and dropping past their window were all part of the plan. Originally, the
sound was just meant to lure them to the window, but they happened to draw the curtain. A hidden camera had
been recording everything inside. So, everything had aligned perfectly.
At the gala, they had waited in vain for the host to appear, when in fact, Belinda had already entered the hall.
Looking back, once Belinda appeared, Sabrina disappeared completely from view. And as for why Sabrina had
targeted Vespera specifically? Maybe she just didn't like the latter.
"Ms. Gildon, I'm truly sorry. Please believe me. | never intended to kill you. | only instructed them to knock you
out," said Sabrina.
She then glanced up at Dominic and continued, "Mr. Reid, we have no personal feud. After you join the
association, we'll meet again. Let's not ruin things between us. | admit that | was wrong, but you've already
drawn blood. Let's call it even."
She was pleading desperately.
