Chapter 577
Chapter 577
Ann's eyes were wide with disbelief as she listened to Leah. "Leah, | never wanted to get back at you. | had no
clue about the kids being switched."
Leah wasn't buying it. "Are you serious? Your husband swapped the kids on purpose. You're tellingyou
weren't in on it?"
Feeling utterly helpless, Ann tried to explain, "It was all John's idea. | honestly didn't know a thing. Years later, |
discovered Xixi's blood type didn't match ours. Both my husband and | are type A, but Xixi's type B. Even with
my limited education, | know two type A parents don't have a type B child."
Leah smirked, "Well, John's gone now, and there's no way to prove anything. You can say whatever you like."

After a long pause, Ann spoke up, "No matter what, the way Xixi turned out is mostly my fault. I'm sorry to you,
and I'm sorry to Xixi. | messed up; it's all on me."
Leah sprang to her feet, emotions running high. "Ann, after all these years, how haven't you learned? Why do
you always take on all the blame? When | said you deceived me, let your mom cozy up to my dad, knowingly
helped in tricking me, tried to wreck my family, took my dad, or caused my mom's death, why didn't you defend
yourself?"
"Why do you just accept everything | say?"
"It was like this before, and it's still the same!"
Ann was left speechless.
Leah, her emotions spilling over, continued, "Why not explain more? Why accept everything | accuse you of?
Why not tellyou were in the dark about it all, that you found out even later than | did? Why do you think
you're responsible for your parents' mistakes, and now your Kid's too? They're their own people with their own
minds. Why take on everyone else's burdens, Ann? Do
you think you're skind of saint?"
Leah shed her high-society demeanor entirely. Pointing at Ann, she ranted like someone in a heated street
argument: "Ann, | can't stand your saintly act. You deserve what you're going through."
Leah was a whirl of emotions. Only
after sending Ann away did she learn that her dad had hidden his affair with Ann's mom from Ann too. She found
out through messages on her dad's phone later on. Back then, Leah was furious, thinking Ann had plotted
against her. But that wasn't true. In the end, Ann was a victim too. Yet, why didn't she ever speak up? Even when
Leah was lashing out, Ann never said a word in her defense. If she had just explained herself back then, maybe
things wouldn't have gotten this bad.
Tears welled up in Ann's eyes. "Leah, | don't have anything to say. You've done a great job raising my daughter,
and whatever you think ofis fair. If there's anything | can do to make it right, I'm willing."
Leah slumped down in a chair,
feeling drained. People don't change
easily. Just like Ann. And Leah
wasn't much different. She
wondered if she could have hel
like Leah did. If her life mirrored her experiences, she'd have crumbled long ago.
"I've got nothing to say to you," Leah said, and with that, she left. Sitting in her car, Leah couldn't shake the
feeling that something was off. She hurried home.
