Chapter 365

Audrey's POV

“Of course, Astrid said, tapping Ethan’s head. “You're still too young to get it.”

*If Blake Parker could actually change, the sun would rise from the west.” Astrid dropped vegetables onto his

plate. “Eat your greens and quit overthinking.”

“Uncle Ethan, have scandy!” Emma held out a wrapped piece. “Candy makes everything better!”

Ethan's expression softened immediately. He served Emma a chicken drumstick. “Growing girls need protein.”

Emma stuffed the entire piece into her mouth. “I wanna grow big and protect Mommy!”

“Then you definitely need to eat up,” Ethan said, ruffling her hair.

Emma nodded with such serious determination, her cheeks still bulging with chicken, that we all burst out

laughing. Just like that,

the tension broke.

After dinner, | took Emma for her bath, listening to her chatter about “funny uncle Ethan” before tucking her into

bed.

Later that night, | called Adrian. He'd texted that he'd reached London safely and would arrive in New York by

morning.

“One day back and already picking fights?” Adrian's voice carried a hint of amusement. “Mrs. Knox has grown

bold. | expected you’d endure their bullying longer, like before.”

“Did you save my life just so | could be everyone's doormat?”

“No,” he replied quickly. “I just didn’t expect... Actually, I'm proud of you. Your sister would be happy seeing you

like this.”

My chest tightened at the mention of my sister. “Tellmore about her.”

“Haven't | told you plenty? What do you want to know?”

| decided to be direct. “Tellabout how she becpregnant with your child.”

The line went quiet. All | could hear was Adrian’s breathing growing heavier.

“It’s getting late,” he finally said. “You should rest.”

The call ended abruptly. | stared at my phone, then set it down.

Adrian's silence confirms it. The mental institution papers Eleanor showedwere real. My sister really was

confined to a facility, only released after becoming pregnant.

What exactly happened between them? She had a heart condition - pregnancy would have been dangerous. Did

she truly consent to having his child?

| gazed out at the night sky until sleep finally claimed me.

“Audrey, something terrible has happened!”

Astrid’s pounding on my door yankedfrom sleep.

“What's Auntie doing... Emma’s sleepy,” Emma mumbled beside me.

“She must have something urgent,” | said, patting her back. “Go back to sleep, sweetie.”

| tucked the blanket around her and dragged myself to the door.

“What's wrong?” | asked, still blinking away sleep.

“Look!” Astrid shoved her phone at me. “I knew Victoria showing up would cause trouble!”

| took the phone and quietly closed the bedroom door to avoid waking Emma. On screen was a paused video. |

pressed play.

Richard and Elaine Sinclair appeared with Victoria standing behind them, all wearing carefully composed

expressions of distress.

“Ten months ago, we were told our beloved daughter Audrey had died of stomach cancer,” Richard began. “The

funeral was arranged by her friends - not her husband Blake Parker.”

“They presented us with her ashes,” Elaine continued, dabbing her eyes. “We couldn’t understand how our

healthy daughter suddenly passed, but we trusted her closest friends.”

“Until yesterday,” Richard picked up, “when our daughter Victoria saw her sister alive. We realize now we were

all deceived.”

“As her parents, we recognized her immediately,” he declared. “This woman is our daughter Audrey, declared

dead ten months ago!”

He looked directly at the camera. “Audrey, we miss you. We don’t know what we did wrong to make you reject

us.”

“We're flying to New York to find you,” he continued. “If you want to reconnect, please call. If not...” his voice

hardened slightly, “we'll livestream our search so everyone can witness our family reunion.”

Astrid angrily turned off the video. “They're threatening to expose you!”

| was fully awake now, a mocking smile playing on my lips. “They haven't lost their acting skills.”

“It’s working, too,” Astrid said. “People online have compared yesterday's footage with your old photos. They

think you're Audrey. Everyone's calling you ungrateful for deceiving your parents and faking your death.”

“Victoria must have planned this with the Parkers,” | said. “That's why she was with Rebecca yesterday before

disappearing. She went straight to Richard and Elaine.”

“But they didn’t recognize you when they saw you?”

“They don’t care who | am,” | replied. “They just wantto admit I'm Audrey so they can claim moral high

ground. Then they can

criticize me, insult me, and bullylike before.”

| picked up my phone. “Since they want a livestreamed reunion, I'll give them exactly that. Tto settle some

scores.”

| dialed Richard's number. He answered quickly.

“Who is this?” he asked.

“Hello, Mr. Sinclair.”

“You are...?” He sounded confused.

“Can’t recognize your own daughter's voice?” | asked coolly.

There was a pause before Richard coughed, his tone shifting to anger. “You disappeared without a word, faked

your death, abandoned your family for ten months -

“Three o'clock, St. Regis Hotel lobby,” I cut him off. “Bring your wife, your daughter, and all my birth documents.

Livestream it if you

want.”

| hung up immediately.

“You're really going to confront them?” Astrid asked, eyes wide.

“Let them have their show,” | said. “I want everyone to see what kind of people they really are.”

| scrolled through my contacts and tried another number, but only got an automated message: “We're sorry, the

number you've dialed is currently unavailable...”

“What's wrong?” Astrid asked.

“Astrid, could your boss helpfind two people?”

“My adoptive parents.”

She looked up sharply. “Those assholes? They made your life hell for years. What do you want

“I want them to watch this circus,” | said, grabbing my own phone. “Victoria wants to force a Sinclair family

reunion? I'll send her a gift too.”

| texted Adrian: “When do you land?”

His reply cinstantly: “Already at the airport.”

| checked the time, calculating his arrival when another text popped up: “JFK. Just landed.”

| stood up, surprised.

“What?” Astrid asked.

Adrian’s already here,” | said, grabbing my jacket. “Need to pick him up.”

“I'm coming too.”

| paused at the door. “Emma's still sleeping

“Mommy?”

| turned to find Emma in the doorway, rubbing her eyes. “Did Daddy come? Emma wants to go too...”

Those big eyes. That little pout. My defenses crumbled instantly.

| scooped her up with a sigh. “Fine. We'll all go.”

After a quick change, we headed out.

Half an hour later, we spotted Adrian near the arrivals gate. He stood with his luggage, talking to a dark-suited

man with an intimidating presence.

When Adrian saw us, he gave the man an apologetic look before turning. “Emma!”

“Daddy! She broke free and ran to him, latching onto his legs. “You came!”

Adrian picked her up with a smile. “Miss me?”

“Lots!”

| couldn’t help smiling at them, but Astrid stiffened beside me.

“Why is Adrian with my boss?” she whispered.

“Your boss?”

She nodded toward the man in black. “Henry Hartford.”
