Chapter 619 Too Normal
Wang Chao walked up to the wall, carefully observing it. He then clenched his fist and struck the wall with great force. The powerful impact caused cracks to appear, and the entire room shook. However, the wall didn't completely shatter as he had expected; it only had cracks all over.
"Hmm?" Wang Chao's expression froze. He had used almost half of his strength in that punch, which could easily shatter steel, but the wall didn't break?
He became even more curious.
What material was this wall made of? It was so sturdy that it could withstand such tremendous force, which was incredible!
He clenched his fist again, ready to attack the wall.
At that moment, the security personnel returned, and upon seeing Bernard lying on the ground, they immediately aimed their guns at Wang Chao, shouting angrily, "Stop!"
Wang Chao stopped his action and looked at Mike and the others, asking in a composed manner, "What's the matter?"
"What did you do to the Director?" Mike questioned angrily.
"Oh, he felt tired and fell asleep on his own. Any problem with that?" Wang Chao asked nonchalantly.
Upon hearing Wang Chao's response, Liu Yifei's face turned dark. Wang Chao was clearly the one who had used some method to make Bernard fall asleep, but he spoke as if Bernard had simply fallen asleep.
He was a master at telling blatant lies, so casual about it.
Mike didn't fully believe Wang Chao's explanation and still aimed his gun at him. He gestured to one of the security personnel, who then went to check Bernard's condition. After verifying that Bernard was indeed unharmed and just unconscious, they breathed a sigh of relief.
The security officer patted Bernard's face to wake him up and asked, "Director, are you alright?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"I'm... I'm fine." After Bernard woke up, he looked around with a bewildered expression. "Where am I? Oh, it's my office. What happened? Why have you all returned?"
Seeing Bernard like this, Liu Yifei could not help but be stunned. It seemed like Bernard had no memory of what had happened earlier.
"Did they do anything to you?" Mike pointed at Wang Chao and Liu Yifei.
Bernard's head seemed to ache, and he vigorously shook it. Then, his eyes turned cold as he glared at Wang Chao. "Mr. Wang, you're not welcome here. Please leave immediately."
Wang Chao glanced at him, his face dark, and remained silent. He walked out of the office, stood in the corridor, and started smoking, his gaze becoming even colder.
Liu Yifei hurriedly followed him and asked worriedly, "Brother Wang, are we just giving up like this?"
She felt like a headless fly at the moment, completely at a loss about what to do.
Wang Chao smoked his cigarette, flicked the ash, and said in a low voice, "I know what to do. You should go back now. Shen Feng also needs someone to take care of him."
"Go back? What about Bingbing? Aren't we going to find her anymore?"
"Of course, I'll be the one to find her."
"Alright, Brother Wang, then I'll leave Bingbing to you."
Liu Yifei held Wang Chao's hand and then turned to leave.
She knew she couldn't help in this situation and might even make things worse. Leaving this matter to Wang Chao was the best option.
Wang Chao kept his eyes on Bernard's room, his gaze cold and fixed. He didn't know how Bernard had taken Shen Bing away, but the surveillance footage showed that Shen Bing disappeared from this room. So, even though he didn't know where Shen Bing was, he believed that following Bernard would lead him to her. It was the most straightforward approach.
He wanted nothing more than to go in and give Bernard a good beating, but he sensed that there were many people secretly watching him. Confronting assassins was no problem for him; he could handle them easily. However, Shen Feng was undergoing critical treatment, and he couldn't afford any distractions. If he were to fight Bernard now, it would complicate matters and leave him vulnerable to others taking advantage of the situation.
Thus, he stood in the corridor, smoking silently, patiently observing Bernard's office.
"Director, are you okay?"
"Did that Wang Chao do something to you? Tell me, and I'll go kill him right now!"
Inside Bernard's office, Mike and the others supported Bernard and asked about his well-being.
Meanwhile, some of the security personnel were furious, declaring that they would kill Wang Chao.
Bernard shook his head and said, "I'm fine, just a little tired. I fell asleep on my own; it has nothing to do with Wang Chao. You mustn't trouble him."
Mike and the others exchanged glances.
Not trouble Wang Chao? Was this something Bernard would say? Based on what they knew, Bernard had a lot of grievances with Wang Chao and had even instructed George to take him to the police station.
Now, Bernard was telling them not to touch Wang Chao?
It seemed absurd!
However, they quickly figured it out.
Wang Chao had managed to get out of the police station so quickly, indicating that he had significant backing here, and he wasn't someone they could offend.
With that in mind, they felt relieved and lucky. If Bernard hadn't uttered this, they might have acted against Wang Chao.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNow they had avoided a disaster.
Bernard shook his head, drank some coffee to wake up, and then waved his hand, signaling them to leave.
Mike and the others bid their farewells and left Bernard's office.
"Later, inform the logistics department to come and replace the door," Bernard suddenly said.
"Understood."
Mike and the others nodded and quickly departed.
In the corridor, when they saw Wang Chao smoking, they did not dare say anything to him and soon disappeared from both Bernard's and Wang Chao's sight.
Wang Chao glanced at them and, to avoid catching Bernard's attention, moved to a spot where he could not be seen by Bernard. He sat down on a chair, smoking a cigarette, while using the "Divine Eye" skill to monitor Bernard.
As long as Bernard did not leave the hospital, Wang Chao could sit there and quietly observe without drawing anyone's attention.
At the same time, he kept an eye on Shen Feng, Zhang Long, and Liu Yifei's situation.
If any of them were in danger, he could provide support immediately.
However, in his field of vision, everything about Bernard seemed normal—normal daily activities, normal medical treatment, and normal eating habits.
The more Wang Chao watched, the darker his expression became.
Everything was too normal!
It was abnormal in itself!
