Chapter 99
| paced the cell, my breath-coming in shallow gasps. | couldn’t stand another minute of this filthy cage. The cold
air gnawed at my skin, but the boiling rage insidekeptmoving. | had to think, had to find a way out of
this nightmare. | wasn’t going to let them break me...not Alex, not Christiana, and certainly not this disgusting
prison.
As | glanced toward the small barred window at the top of the cell, an idea struck me. My phone. My lawyers, |
wasn’t scommon criminal, | had connections-powerful connections. | stopped pacing and marched to the
front of the cell, gripping the bars tightly as I called out to the guard standing just outside,
“Hey!” My voice was desperate, it was of panic and urgency. “I need to make a phone call. It's my right, isn't it?
Just one call. Please, you have to letspeak to my lawyers.”
The guard turned, his face blank, as if he’d heard this plea a hundred times before. “Yeah, sure. But don’t expect
any miracles,” he muttered, already reaching for the small key ring at his belt.
| watched him unlock the small slot in the door where prisoners could receive things from the outside. He handed
pathetic act that | perfected over the years. | had to look the part..vulnerable, weak like a woman who had been
wronged by the system.
The line rang once, twice, then | heard the familiar voice of Simon, my top attorney. “Bianca? Where are you
calling from? What's going on?”
My voice cracked as | spoke, letting out a shaky breath for effect Simon, you have to help me. I've been framed.
They've lockedup, and | don’t know how long | can take it in here!” My words cout rushed, it was of fear
and desperation. “I didn’t do any of this, Simon. You know me. | would never hurt anyone.”
The guard watchedclosely, his expression unmoved. But I could hear the shift in Simon's tone, the concern
creeping in. “Calm down, Bianca. Take a breath and tellwhat's going on Who framed you? What are the
charges?”
“I don’t even know everything they're accusingof.” | lied, my voice trembling. They're saying I'm behind all
these terrible things the fire at Christiana’s house, the kidnapping, everything But none of it’s true, Simon.
Christiana and Alex they're working together to destroybecause I'm a threat to their happy little life.”
There was a long pause on the other end of the line. | knew Simon was calculating, already piecing together his
strategy. He was the best in the country for a reason. And | knew exactly how to play him. I'forced a sob, letting
it escape my throat. “Please, Simon, you have to getout of here. | can’t stay in this horrible place. They're
treatinglike I'm skind of
monster”
His voice softened, just as | knew it would. “We'll take care of it, Bianca. I'll bring the whole team. We'll fight this,
and we'll have you out of there within a few days, | promise. No judge in their right mind will believe these
ridiculous accusations once we show them the truth.”
A bitter smile tugged at the corners of my lips. Of course, they wouldn't believe it. | was too good at what I did,
too polished to ever let anyone see through the cracks. But | kept my voice pitiful: “Thank you, Simon. | don’t
know what I'd do without you. Just... please hurry.”
“We'll start working on it right away. Hold on for a few more days, Bianca. We'll pull every string we can.”
I nodded, even though he couldn't see me, and let out another shaky breath. Thank you. I'll hold on
As soon as | hung up the phone, | felt the rush of relief wash over me. | was in control again. My lawyers would
handle the rest. Simon and his team had no idea who I really was, and they never would. They saw what |
wanted them to see...a frightened, wronged woman, desperate for justice.
I handed the phone back to the guard, my expression carefully composed, as though | was barely holding myself
together. They're going to getout,” | muttered, my voice hoarse. “I don’t belong here.”
The guard shrugged, indifferent. “We'll see about that.”
As he locked the slot, | turned away, a smirk slowly spreading across my face. Let them believe | was innocent.
