Having a baby must be incredibly painful, right? When Maja had her twins, she nearly lost her life.

And then there was Zoey March. She didn't survive Nolan Haskins' birth.

What about Stella? Was she in a lot of pain too?

This place is so underdeveloped when ites to healthcare. | bet there wasn't even a doctor around at the time.

Stella didn't say a word. Her head hung low, tears streaming down her face.

She had waited so long for Beck to ask her this question. She thought he never would.

She wanted to tell him it was excruciating. After the birth, the sheets were soaked with blood. She couldn't hear the baby's cry and

panicked, not caring about her own disheveled state, rushing to check on the child.

But the baby lay there, utterly still, without a sound.

Then she started crying, feeling like it was all her own doing, her own punishment.

"Stella."

Beck called her nagain, suddenly pulling her into a close embrace.

The tears Stella had been holding back fell even more freely.

Dave had once asked if she regretted anything. She said no, it was fate.

But seeing Beck here, she truly felt regret.

She and Beck cfrom different worlds, and it was her own stubbornness that had brought her here.

Otherwise, why would someone as privileged as Becke to such a barren place?

Beck held her for a long time, only speaking when his arms grew tired.

"This time, I'm not leaving. | want to stay here with you."

Stella thought she must be hearing things. How could he stay in a place like this?

"Beck, you should go."

"Unless youe with me, I'm not going anywhere."

Stella fell silent. She didn't want to leave. The Moore family was still searching for her.

Even though Beck said the Moore family issues were resolved, their influence was vast. If she returned to North America, they'd

surely find out. How had Beck handled it? Had he faked her death?

If that's the case, she couldn't possibly go back.

Beck pulled her into another embrace, his voice hoarse.

"Stella, pleasee back with me. I'll protect you. | won't let you be taken away again. Trust me."

Stella didn't respond. Logic told her to refuse, but her heart was already leaning towards Beck.

Still, she didn't agree right away.

At dinner with Dave, she pulled him aside and shared her thoughts about returning to North America.

Dave looked at her incredulously.

"Are you out of your mind? He gives you a little sweetness, and you're ready to run off with him? Don't you think he might be

deceiving you?"

Stella felt pathetic, but she couldn't help it. She still loved Beck.

Dave took a deep breath, barely restraining his frustration.

"Here's the deal: he said he'd stay, right? Let's see how long this fancy guy can last here. If he sticks it out for more than a month,

then consider leaving with him."

Stella nodded, muttering, "Thanks, Dave."

Dave had brought her here because he intended to settle down, seeing she had nowhere else to go.

He genuinely didn't want to see Stella walk into another disaster. What good ever cfrom these love stories anyway?

That night, as Stella lay in bed, she heard someone push her door open. Beck stood at the entrance.

She sat up with a start.

Beck strolled in casually, lifted the covers, and slipped in beside her.

Stella was unsettled. Her previous encounters with Beck had been under dubious circumstances.

Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that a sober Beck would share a bed with her.

Yet here he was, his warmth a tangible reminder that this was real, not a dream.

"Beck."

Before she could say more, Beck turned and wrapped her in his arms.

He had traveled from Greenfield to North America, and then here, without a break. He was genuinely exhausted.

"Let's talk tomorrow," he murmured.

Stella stayed silent, only moving when she heard the gentle rhythm of his breathing. She carefully turned to face him.

Beck was handsome, no wonder so many liked him.

Her fingers traced his features, mapping his face, but he caught her hand midway, his eyes opening to meet hers.

Stella felt her cheeks ignite.

It was strange. She could flirt with any man, yet in front of Beck, words failed her. Her heart raced with nervousness.

Beck held her hand gently, then leaned in and kissed her on the lips.
