Beck had always been the one throwing around sarcastic remarks, but now the tables had turned, and the person mocking him was none other than Dave, someone he had always looked down on.
He had spared Dave back then, only because of Fitch Haskins, but clearly, Dave had no gratitude.
Beck let out a dismissive snort, placing the bucket of water beside Dave, and then turned his attention to Stella.
"The Moore family situation is sorted out.e back to North America with me. I'll make sure you're well taken care of." Before Stella could respond, Dave chimed in.
"What do you mean by 'taken care of'? Are you just going to dump her on someone else and let her fend for herself? If that's the case, Mr. Sanders, you shouldn't havee all this way, giving false hope only to snatch it away." Stella lowered her eyelashes, softly calling, "Dave." Dave shrugged, continuing to water the ground.
"Mr. Sanders, do you even know what I'm doing here?" Beck had no idea. Were they planting vegetables? Everyone around here seemed to be growing their own food since the nearest town was quite a distance away, and bartering was the norm.

Look around-everyone else is planting vegetables, but she wants flowers. She's all about living in the moment, not just surviving." A pang of difort hit Beck. He enjoyed flowers, but had always left the gardening to his staff. And he hadn't realized Stella liked them too.
He lowered his gaze, wanting to say something more, but Dave was already ignoring him.
Beck turned to Stella, who seemed uneasy, her eyes fixed on the sunset.
"Stella?" He called her nagain, and Stella took a deep breath.
"Beck, you should head back." "You shoulde with me. This time, I won't leave you to someone else." But Stella knew if it weren't for Dave's earlier words, Beck would have still passed her off to someone else. He never truly intended for them to be together.
She forced a bitter smile, realizing there was no point in expecting anything from Beck anymore.
"No need. I'm doing just fine here." Beck was getting frustrated. He hade all this way, thinking he was offering her a better life, and now she was saying she was fine here? This place was so barren—what was so great about it? No one had ever refused him like this before.
Beck, proud as he was, never really liked Stella much, considering her too calculating and manipulative, always playing men like pawns.
"Are you sure you don't want toe back with me?" Stella nodded, and in the next moment, Beck turned on his heel.
"Fine. If that's what you want, then stay." Stella watched him walk away without a word.
Beck didn't look back once as he drove off.
Dave kept watering, trying tofort Stella.
"Why are you even watching him leave? This guy proband of high-and-mighty et guy probably thinks justing here for you is sgrand favor, and you should be grateful just to go back with him. You turned him down, and now he's lost face. Stella, you see it now, right? You're from different worlds. He can't understand your life or feelings. After all, you grew up in totally different environments." Stella didn't reply, just watched the sprouting flowers in front of her.
Dave was right about one thing: Beck thoughting here was a big deal, and she should have been eager to follow him back.

She said nothing more, convinced Beck would never return.
Back in North America, Beck was still fuming.
He went to a family dinner at the Sanders' place, only to be annoyed by Lily again. The more he looked at Lily, the more he disliked her. She wasn't even a Sanders, so why was she enjoying everything the Sanders family had to offer? And the most infuriating thing was his brother, usually so aloof, had managed to keep his beloved by his side.
He was envious.
So, he quickly flew back to Greenfield, thinking perhaps seeing Maja might ease his disappointment.
But even with Craig Raymond and Rosemary Sanders around, his mind kept drifting back to the child Stella had lost.
Did Stella cry then? Did she regret it? Beck couldn't help but wonder, unable to control his thoughts, leaving him in a constant state of confusion during his tato Greenfield Gardens. Maja noticed his troubles and asked, "Beck, how's Stella doing?" Beck was puzzled why Maja would bring her up; they barely spoke to each other, let alone be friends.
"She's not part of the Sanders family. I wouldn't know how she's doing." Maja was surprised, "I was just asking casually, Beck. Why are you so worked up?" "I'm not worked up. I just think she's ungrateful." Privacy
