Henry's heart skipped a beat, uncertain if Zoey had caught what he just said. His voice trembled, rough and strained from the
emotional turmoil.
"I'm sorry, | slept with someone else."
Despite the haze of alcohol that night, it happened. No excuses could erase that.
A mistake is a mistake.
Zoey stiffened, momentarily at a loss for words, as if something was choking her. She had always thought of Henry as a
straightforward guy, not someone who'd stray.
"Okay."
A fleeting difort washed over her, and with a strained smile, she said, "So, are you planning your wedding in Zion City then?"
Suddenly, Henry found himself at a loss for words, unsure of how things had taken such a turn.
"Uh, Zoey, I'm sorry, I'm just really confused right now."
"Then you should rest."
Zoey ended the call, turning to find Fitch not far away, playing absentmindedly with his lighter. He seemed in a surprisingly good

As Zoey moved past him, Fitch wrapped an arm around her waist.
"Who was that on the phone?"
His tone was teasing, his actions even more intimate than before. Towering over her from behind, he seemed to envelop her
entirely.
Feeling suddenly weak, Zoey tried to push him away with her elbow, "Let go."
"Not until you tell me, who was it?"
His voice was filled with amusement.
Zoey had an eerie feeling he might know about her breakup with Henry.
"Henry."
"And what did you guys talk about?"
She didn’t want Fitch to know about her and Henry splitting up. If he was this close now, what would he do knowing she was
single?
"Just everyday stuff."
Fitch's smirk faded slightly, "Is that so?"
His arms remained around her, "Are you guys still planning to get engaged?"
"It's none of your business."
Zoey was getting irritated; he was prying too much for someone who was just her student's father.
"How is it not my business? If you're getting engaged, I'd have to apany you to Zion City."
Zoey froze, struggling for words before finally saying, "Mr. Haskins, letremind you, this is what homewreckers do, and it's
despicable."
Fitch buried his face in her neck, his mood seemingly lifted by her difort, chuckling softly, "That's fine by me."
Feeling her face heat up, Zoey pushed him away forcefully. This time, he let her go easily.
Annoyed, Zoey stormed into the living room, only to find Nolan looking up at her with wide eyes.
"Ms. March, are you burning up?"

Her face was indeed very red, resembling someone with a fever.
Zoey felt even more embarrassed, "No, it's just a bit warm in here."
Do people get flushed seeing their dads?
Nolan suddenly nodded, grinning, "You're blushing."
That only added to Zoey's embarrassment.
Fitch entered, adopting a stern tone, "Nolan, don't tease Ms. March."
Zoey blamed him entirely for her current state, thinking how shameless he was.
Biting her lip, she suddenly realized thating to Greenfield was like walking into a lion's den. It felt impossible to leave now,
especially after promising Nolan she'd stay for two months.
She felt trapped.
Fitch approached, reaching to touch her forehead but Zoey dodged.
"You do look a bit flushed," he remarked.
Zoey had an unsettling feeling; he was flirting with her.
