Chapter 402: Hospital Mole Ill
Matthew was a degenerate. A psychopathic fool. A-
Athena's anger wouldn't let her push for more words.
He wanted to inject Ciara with the virus? Wanted to infiltrate her party tomorrow with the spoison? What
else—what other vile plan did they still have hidden in their arsenal?
She exhaled sharply, only to tense when she felt Ewan’s hand at her back, tracing small circles against her
spine. When she met his gaze, her mind went blank, bankrupt of thought for a whole second.
This man. She thought with a pang, turning away quickly. He had the capacity to drain her of coherent thought in
troubling situations like this, and she hated how easily he did it.
Yet, she didn’t pull away from the circles either. They were comforting. Safe. Almost... friendly.
Mary's voice broke the moment.
"I think we should follow the boss’ orders. He has not yet given the go-ahead to invade the party. But you can
take it up to him. You're always as bold as a lion."
The sarcasm in her tone was sharp enough to cut. Athena frowned, again wondering what kind of
misunderstanding brewed between the twins. She had never seen them quarrel—at least not in public. The one
tshe had stumbled upon their spat, she was sure they hadn't known anyone was watching.
"You are right, sister. Let's wait for the boss’ orders. When is he even coming?"
Athena stiffened. So—they knew his identity? If she or Ewan could capture one of the twins, they'd know who the
real culprit was!
Her eyes flicked to Ewan’s, and his glance mirrored hers. They had to secure one of the twins today. By all means
necessary.
"I don’t know. But since the vial isn’t here, let's go."
"Go? No. | cwith a special gift for Ciara. She will be the one to start the spread."
Athena’s gut twisted. Ciara must have blanched, because Matthew laughed. "Oh don’t worry. You're lucky you're
still useful. Take this."
Static crackled, then his voice cagain.
"It looks little, yeah? But don’t toy with it. Make sure it gets into her assistant’s system. You know her?"
Ciara must have nodded.
"Good. Let's see how she’ll save that mouthy fellow who thinks being assistant to Athena is like being assistant
to God."
Athena's fists clenched so tightly her knuckles burned.
"Now, get out of here. And remember how this works—if any of this gets out, both you and your family will be

Ciara must have nodded again, because Matthew snapped the next second. "Your words, girl! Use your words.
Don’t nod like a pregnant lizard for me."
"Yes, | will. I will deliver on your promises."
"Good. Now get out."
There was the shuffle of feet, the slam of a door, then static dissolved into rumbling silence.
"She’s out," Ewan muttered, releasing an audible sigh. "This changes everything."
Athena gave a weak nod. "So... how does she meet us?" she asked, staring at Ciara’s nflashing on her
phone.
Her secretary really might want to turn a new leaf. Maybe she was tired of playing puppet. Maybe she didn't trust
the doctors anymore.
"She can pretend to wait by the road for a cab. My driver will pick her up and take her to her house. You have her
address, right?"
Athena nodded, but doubt clouded her tone. "She might be followed. They might wonder why she’s heading
hnow. They could even be tapping her phone."
She shook her head, thinking fast. "I'll text her as her boss, order her back to the office, and say the files need
compiling. We'll talk when she gets here. Then we'll figure out how to move her safely to her house—and our
disguises. They can’t know we know, Ewan."
"I know, Athena. | know."
So much was at stake.
Ewan watched as Athena tapped the message out, sharp and calculated. Then, they waited.
Five minutes later, there was a knock.
"Cin," Athena called, her voice steady, her usual tone.
Ciara entered, shoulders hunched, clutching a tiny vial in her hand. Smaller than the one Athena had confiscated
before. Just as Matthew had said—it looked harmless, but the consequences... could be catastrophic.
"Did you hold it like that while leaving the storage room?" Panic flashed across Athena's face.
Ciara shook her head quickly, to both Athena and Ewan'’s relief. "I just brought—" she cut herself off, glancing
around the room, eyes darting, paranoid.
"You don’t have to worry about cameras, Ciara," Athena said gently. "There are none here. | check every
morning. | also keep a detector in my cupboard."
Ciara exhaled in shaky relief, hurried forward, placed the vial on the desk, then dropped to her knees, palms
pressed together like she was in prayer.
"Please, ma... | can explain. My family—"
"We heard, Ciara. We heard," Athena cut in softly. "They're holding your family captive. How long has this been
going on?"
"Just two weeks. | promise. You know how much | hate them."

Athena's chest tightened. No wonder

"I know," Athena said quietly. "So, what have you been doing for them? How did they take your family?"
Ciara rubbed her damp palms against her skirt, still trembling. Relief flickered in her eyes when Athena told her
to stand. She obeyed, moving to the visitor chair across the desk, her hands wringing in her lap.

Athena sighed, crossing her legs, her heart sinking at the thought. She could imagine how Ciara must have felt
