Chapter 749

Rachel could barely handle her own situation, let alone worry about Anne.

Anne suddenly felt a cold draft between her legs, and a wave of despair crashed over her.

But in the next instant, the crushing weight on her body was gone.

Tyler had yanked the man off and smashed his fist into his face. The man’s cheek swelled instantly, the damage

obvious even to the naked eye.

Tyler didn’t even bother finishing him off. All he could think about was Rachel. He dropped to his knees, pulled

her into his arms, and anxiously patted her face that was pale from lack of air.

“Rachel, Rachel!”

There was no response. Tyler bent forward and pressed his ear to her chest. When he caught the faint sound of

her heartbeat, he finally sighed in relief-but that didn’t mean she was out of danger.

Anne scrambled to her feet and rushed over, panic in her eyes as she saw Rachel's lifeless state.

“Tyler, we need to get her to a hospital right now! She must have inhaled a lot of sand. It could block her

airway!”

“Alright. You call the police.”

Tyler scooped Rachel into his arms and headed away from the crowd, but Anne suddenly shouted after him.

“Tyler, don’t! We can’t call the cops! | heard those guys have connections with the police!”

Tyler didn’t so much as flinch after hearing that. Instead, he felt like laughing.

“Call them anyway.”

Anne didn’t know what he was thinking, but she had no choice except to listen.

Meanwhile, Sawyer quickly caught up. When his men told him the situation, one asked nervously, “Sawyer,

they're trying to call the cops! What do we do?”

Sawyer just burst out laughing.

“They want the cops involved? Perfect! We'll talk it out at the station. I'll make sure they don’t walk away so

easily.”

Since they had already decided to report it, Sawyer didn’t bother stopping them.

At the hospital, doctors immediately rushed Rachel into emergency rescue. Tyler and Anne sat on the waiting-

room bench. Yale made his way there as soon as he heard the news.

“Mr. Hunt, how's Ms. Lloyd?”

“She inhaled a lot of sand. The doctors can’t say anything for sure yet. We just have to wait.”

Tyler furrowed his brows. His expression was dark as he rubbed his forehead.

Yale sat down beside him. “Mr. Hunt, I'll handle the rest, but you'll still need to stop by the station to give a

statement later.”

“Alright. Also, dig into those men. They were too brazen, trying to assault women in broad daylight.”

“Yes, sir.”

Yale quickly left the hospital.

Anne sat there sobbing. Her clothes were torn so badly that they barely covered her.

Tyler glanced at her, then shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.

“You should get checked, too.”

“I'm fine. It’s just scratches. Ms. Lloyd had it so much worse. Tyler, I'm so sorry. | caused all this trouble for you. If

| hadn’t been so reckless, none of this would have happened.”

Even now, just thinking about what had happened made her tremble with fear.

Chapter 1601

"What are you doing?" Debra shot to her feet. I'm telling you this so that you can get ready. I'm not sending you

to Orkgate and take her head off."

"Doesn't she deserve it?" Drake fumed, shoving Kale aside. "I can handle being played by you, but who the hell

is she to mess with me?"

Debra ignored the rant. "Chill out. This is no rushed work."

"How am | supposed to chill?" he snapped. "Orkgate's my turf."

He'd just visited Seamar City, and now his hbase was slipping away. Anyone would lose it over that.

"You going back now won't help," Debra said. "The Lowe Group's a tangled mess. You're the boss, sure, but you

can't take on the Illuminati behind it. What's confronting Lara gonna do? You'd stand there, powerless to even

touch her. That'd just piss you off more."

"Mrs. Houston has a point, sir," Kale chimed in. "Better to heal up first."

Drake shot him a glare, and Kale shut up fast.

Debra went on, "I faked ssecurity footage and gave it to Fermin. Made him think the Illuminati had taken

Liza, hoping to spark a fight between him and them. But even Fermin couldn't touch Lara. You think you're

tougher than him?"

"What do you mean by that?" Drake's face darkened. "Are you saying I'm weaker than Fermin?"

"Facts are facts," Debra said bluntly. "Fermin's the real deal. If Liza hadn't helped me, I'd be toast too."

Drake hated hearing it, but Debra kept going. "Before | cback, | called Lara."

"Why'd you even call her?" He frowned.

"lI wasn't sure where we stood," she admitted. "I know the gap between us and the Illuminati is huge. So, | played

a little mind gwith her."

"What kind of mind game?" he asked.

"Fermin found Lara because of my fake footage," she explained. "Lara doesn't know that. She'll think I'm some

mastermind who's been onto her all along. Now she'll hesitate before moving against us. Andrew taughtthat

trick. It's like they're staring into a dark, bottomless pool. They won't know how deep it is, so they won't dare

jump. It's my first ttrying it. Hope it works."

Drake's expression shifted, and he cooled down, sitting back on the bed.

"Oh."

"That's it? Oh?"

"What else do you wantto say? That you're a genius?"
