Maybe Thane was right, | didn't have to push him away. Isabella could stick around, but that didn’t mean | would have to leave just so she could be with
him. | made a decision. | was going to fight for what belonged to me.
When | returned back to Thane’s room, | was met with the sight of Thane on the floor, unconscious; claw marks marred his body, and a few more identical
marks on Isabella
“What's wrong?” | asked her.
“It happened again, and it's getting worse.”
“You need a healer.”
“No, I will heal, and so will he.”
“How can | help? Just tellwhat to do."
“Xothing. There is nothing you can do Riley, and it’s not safe for you to be around him anymore.”
“Ill be the one to decide that.”
“Riley. You need to listen to me. | thought this would work, but it won't. You cannot be around him.”
“But you can?”
“Do you know what happened to Logan's mate?”

“He told you about Logan?” | asked, feeling a bit betrayed.
“No, he didn’t. I've been getting sfragments of my memory back. Logan had tolda lot of things, and |
recognized him earlier when he visited the pack Logan toldhow he lost his mate; he had killed her
‘accidentally’... Do you want that for yourself, Riley?”
“You know what? | don’t care; he needsnow more than ever. | won't shy away.’

“No, he doesn’t need you; it might hurt to hear this, but it'she needs now. Think of what would happen if he
hurts you or worse, he would bear the guilt for the rest of his life; it will destroy him. You cannot do that to him.”
She was right; | should leave.
“I'm sorry, Thane.” With that | turned around, heading to the ward Ethan had been kept.
“Luna!” Daisy called, “I've been looking for you.”
She looked better. From the smile on her face, | could tell that she was back to her usual self, and damn was |
glad.
“Is anything wrong?” | inquired.
“No, | just wanted to show you something; maybe you should cwithto my apartment.”

Chapter Filty Nine
“What do you want to show me?”
“It has to do with Ethan... Could you cwith me?”
“Of course?” | answered, wondering why she wantedin her room of all places; that thought was immediately
quenched by the sudden worry | felt. Of course if it was bad news she wouldn't deliver it with a smile on her
face, right?
I followed her into the room, and she turned to lock the door.
“Thank you for coming,” she said. There was something about her smile that felt quite... off.
Just then | heard footsteps, and Daemon joined us; he had been in the room.
“He promised.” | hissed; once again my father was nothing but a disappointment.
“He isn’t a part of this; trust me, he wanted to keep his little promise to his family so badly.”
My gaze turned to Daisy. She had tears streaming down her eyes.
“I'm so sorry,” she pleaded
“You did this for him?”
“Yes, I'm sorry, | just had to.”
“You fool, he doesn't love you; he doesn’t even care about you.”

“I am going to start a new life with him, a new beginning, and I'll see him every day for the rest of my life. Ill be with him till eternity. Right, Daemon?”
She asked, tears still streaming down her eyes.
He nodded, wiping away her tears, and then he bent to kiss her lips.
“You will be withfor eternity, Daisy, just as | promised,” he says softly to her, and she nods. “But just not in this lifetime,” he completed before digging
his hand into her chest and ripping out her heart.
I let out a scream.
