She wouldn't leave; | could hurt her, and she knew that, yet there she stood.
“Mark me, Thane, do it, and this will be over.”
“I... can't.”
“You can; it doesn’t have to mean anything.
In the next second | was right in front of her she didn’t run; she stood still. It was either this or | completed the
transformation and killed her.
| bit into her neck, marking her.
She staggered backwards, her hand holding back the blood now spilling from her neck.

“Stop,” she says. “lI am here.”
She wasn't talking to me, | realized, but to my wolf, and under her command he obeyed.
My breaths cout labored.
“You risked your life.” | said to her, and she nodded.
“I knew it was going to work,” she responded, and she was right; it did work. The pain disappearance was almost
instant; | was in control again; it was over.
“What did you do?”
“| stopped it.”
“How did you know how to stop it?” | asked, but she only tossed a pair of pants at me.
Not only did she follow me, but she was ready; she knew something I didn’t.
“| asked a question, Bella.”
“I just helped you; the least | expected is a thank you.”
“Thank you.”
“You are welcome.”

“Now answer my question.”
“Have you heard of the term Lycan’s Curse?” she questioned.
“No.”
“I suspected that.”

| didn’t make a move. After walking sdistance, she noticed | wasn’t following, so she paused and turned
around.
“Do you want to know what this is about, or are you going to just stand there?”
| followed her into her room; it was tiny, and | felt a pang in my chest.
“Make yourself at home. Do you want swater, tea, coffee, or juice?” she asked.
“I just want you to start talking.”
“Oh,” she said, her smile fading slightly. She took a seat on the bed, but | stood, leaning against the wall. | didn’t
miss her eyes trailing down my body. “The healers have been doing really well, and finally | have some
memories back.”
