“If you had a day left, what would you spend those few hours doing?” | asked Thane. He gavea calculative
look. “Why would you want to know that?” he asked.
“Nothing; | am just one curious creature.”
“Well, if | did have a day to live, | wouldn't spend a minute thinking about death; | would live through the day like
it was every other.” he said, and | couldn’t help but smile at that. “Bella, | have a question for you. Have you ever
thought about having a family?”
The smile on my face disappeared. | had thought about that so many times; anyt| looked at Thane, | knew if
| could have a family, he would be the one | would want to have that family with.
“No.” | lied, “I will worry about that when the tcomes.”
I rose from the bed.
“Where are you going?”
“I need to use the bathroom.” | said to him, but | had been trying to hide the tears; they had once again ruined
my makeup. Hiding this was getting harder. | took out my powder; | just needed a few more touches.
| stared at my face when | was done. | was dying; it was getting clearer with each passing day.
| coughed into my hand, and just as I'd been noticing for the past few days, a faint smudge of blood stained my
palm. | rinsed my mouth before returning back to the bed to join Thane.

He placed a kiss on my lips.
“Thane, if something happens and | am no more, would you ever forget me?
“When you are no more?”

“You will be here with me, always,” he said to me, but | could see the suspicion in
his eyes.

“Curious,” he completed, “And for your question, | would never stop thinking about you, not now and not in a
million years.”
There, that was all | needed to hear.
| waited for a few hours before rolling off the bed for the second time.
I had added a good amount of sleeping pills into his drink; I didn’t think it would keep him down for long. | only
hope it will be enough time.
My body ached, my eyelids grew heavy and they drifted shut, the twas here, and yet, | felt like there was
one thing | was yet to do. | spotted the pen and paper on the drawer, and | stumbled towards it, accidentally
knocking down my picture frin the process. Finally, | collected them and returned to the cushion.
| stared at Thane one more time, and my heart ached. | didn’t want to die. | let out a stifled sob, trying my best
to hold it down, but I couldnt and so I let the tears out.
“There are many bad things | have done in my life, but then there is one that outshines them all. It was the day |
let myself have a glance at you; it was the day | fell in love with you; it was the day | let you in. It had been so
wrong and yet, the best choice | would ever make.
There is a secret | kept away from you; | did this because | didn’t want you to leave me. | couldn't live without
you, and so | kept it to myself. | was born with an illness, an incurable disease in my blood. | left my pack
because | wanted to make the most out of the t| had left, and then | met you. You becmy life, and till
death | will continue to love you.
