Now it all made sense. Th
ane’s reaction to Isabella finally made sense.
| was mad, angry, and jealous, and | had every right to be. After Bella's death, Thane had been in so much pain,
he couldn't bear it all alone, and that had been the very sreason he shut everyone out; it had taken so
many years for him to move on, but the effect of her death remained, even till today. So | didn’t exactly believe
that he could just... Stop loving her.
| paused in the hallways; hesitating for a moment before taking a turn, | headed to the room Isabella occupied.
| knocked once, and she opened the door. | didn’t wait for an invitation; | pushed past her and walked into her
room. She shut the door before turning to me. There was a small frown on her tiny doll-like face. Her red hair had
been made into a messy bun; she was beautiful, and | couldn’t deny it, and despite myself, | felt an ache in my
chest. Thane never spoke of how beautiful ‘Bella’ had actually been.
“I know why you are here,” she said in her tiny, melodious voice.
“I bet you do.” | responded.

should have seen how he turneddown when I tried to kiss him,” she said with a small chuckle, but the
sadness remained visible in her eyes.
“You tried to kiss him?” | questioned, trying to bottle down my anger.
“Yes, | did, and he literally shovedaway. | don’t know what | was thinking.”
“You did; you knew exactly what you were doing.”
She paused, staring at me, and finally she nodded. “I did know what | was doing; maybe | believed if | did kiss
him, then he would remember me. | believe that single action could make him remember.”
“Make him remember what exactly?”
“What it had been like when the both of us were together, it was like the sun and the moon and the stars; it was
beautiful. I know you love him and you carry his child, but you... just have to know that I am his fated mate, not
you; you were only a substitute. It is not my intention to make an enemy out of you, not at all, but you should
bear this in mind.”
