He stepped away from me, and for sseconds there was silence. | cocked my brow at him, and just then, dark
wings, black as night, sprang from his back. | gasped, backing away; my leg cinto contact with something
hard, and | fell to the ground.

“Don’t be afraid; this is our ride.”
“Well, you should have told me... what... what are you?” | asked
“A turned one,” he answered, coming
