Initially, Scott thought Nash, as a man, might have his pride at stake, especially after all these years of not acknowledging Nina as his wife. Now, he felt Nash was displaying an unprecedented level of childishness. Who would wrap a marriage certificate so securely and flaunt it in front of others? "Mr. York, this marriage is destined to end anyway," Scott calmly stated.

"I did," Nina interjected, turning to Nash. "I've been saying this marriage is over from the start. Even if the marriage certificate is still around, one day you'll be holding a divorce certificate instead!" Scott looked at Nina again, puzzled.
Nash's expression darkened as he tightened his grip on the marriage certificate. "Marriage isn't something you enter or leave on a whim. Do you treat marriage like child's play, or do you think we're playing house?" Nina could not understand Nash anymore. Shouldn't she be the one saying those words? He treated marriage like child's play, depriving her of the happiness she should have had as his wife in this marriage. Those words were just empty talk.
Anyway, she no longer yearned to be his wife. She wanted freedom, to break free from his control.
Nina turned back, her expression emotionless. "My mind is made up!" Scott had not been surprised by Nina's mention of their marriage. He knew Nina fiked Nash. He had figured it out long ago. Her marrying him and being by his side was something he had anticipated. Even if they divorced, it would be because Nina had accumulated enough disappointment.
As her classmate and friend, he would surely stand by her. He turned to Nash. "Mr. York, I think you should respect Nina's feelings." Nash shrugged it off. He knew Scott was eager for their divorce so he could swoop in. But he was not going to allow it.

Why don't you care about mine?" Nina felt he was being unreasonable and could not continue. She stood up. "You guys finish the meal. I'm leaving!"
She grabbed her bag and headed out.
Ω Scott was about to follow her out. Nash stood up before him, his eyes warning Scott sharply. "Mr. Lucas, Nina and I are married. You're nothing to her. Don't embarrass either of us!"
With that, Scott froze, his brows furrowing, but he did not take another step forward. Meanwhile, Nash followed Nina out.
Scott sat back down, looking at the uneaten food on the table. His whole demeanor appeared somewhat desolate, with an unfamiliar sense of loss on his face, contrasting with his usual demeanor.
