Chapter 1346

"Quincy," Lydia noticed the call and spoke up, "Someone's calling you. Go ahead and answer. It's not like you

need to worry aboutanymore. We're getting divorced, after all."

In just a month, they would have their divorce papers, and that would be the end. They would be strangers with

no ties left between them.

Quincy finally pressed the answer button, feeling utterly drained. "Mom, is there something you need?"

"Quincy, where have you been these past few days?" Mrs. Perez's voice was filled with concern.

Ever since that day in the hospital when Quincy mentioned the special herbal tea, Mrs. Perez had been quick to

act. She urged her husband to rush home, and then had Mabel keep Quincy occupied. They managed to dispose

of the herbal tea successfully, so even if Quincy searched every corner of the house, he wouldn't find a trace.

After finally breathing a sigh of relief, Mrs. Perez grew increasingly frustrated when Quincy seemingly

disappeared, avoiding even a single visit. He wouldn't even pick up Mabel's calls.

Today, though, was the day they were supposed to handle the divorce proceedings, so Mrs. Perez was

determined to reach him.

When the call finally connected, she pressed him, "Don't forget to go to the courthouse today."

"Mom, you called relentlessly just to remindabout the divorce?" Quincy replied, exasperated. He looked

around, seeing couples getting married and divorced alike.

But really, how many mothers

actually look forward to their son's divorce? Even before he and Lydia, had split she was already pushing him

toward another woman, practically encouraging him,

cheat. If people knew, their family

would be shamed.

"Quincy, you two are the ones who let things get this far, and | didn't start the divorce. Lydia did. You don't want

to go through with it, but are you expecting her to stay?" Mrs. Perez was quick to shift all the blonto Lydia.

Yes, it was Lydia who asked for the divorce, but only after her heart had been broken beyond repair by the Perez

family.

Quincy knew arguing was pointless. If his mother were capable of reflecting on her actions, they wouldn't be

here in the first place.

He glanced over at Lydia, realizing that after today, he would only see her again when they finalized the divorce.

After that, he might never get to look at her like this again. "I'm already at the courthouse."

Mrs. Perez immediately shot a look

to Tiffany, who was standing beside her, then chirped cheerfully, "Alright, | won't keep you. Cby and see me

when you're done. You know my health isn't what it used to be, and | don't know how long I've got. You're the

only one | worry about."

Quincy didn't reply or promise to visit her. He simply ended the call.

Hwas supposed to be a place of warmth, but he would rather face the most difficult clients than go back

there.

"Well, now you can be the dutiful son

your mom has always wanted. I'm sure she's thrilled we're getting divorced Lydia said, her tone dripping with

sarcasm. She hadn't heard Mrs. Perez's exact words, but she could easily guess they were less than pleasant.

The thought of their lost child brought a fresh wave of bitterness, and she couldn't resist taking a jab at him.
