Chapter 1331
Nina took deliberate steps toward the leader. He pushed himself up with his hands and instinctively scooted
back, fear flashing in his eyes. This woman was brutal. She hadn't held back at all, and he was feeling it,
especially his back, which he suspected might actually be fractured.
"D-Don't cany closer," he stammered, attempting to sound threatening. "If you touch us, the organization
behind us won't let you off."
Nina's expression was all scorn. "Do you really think I'm that naive? Even if I let you go now, your organization
wouldn't just letwalk away. And besides, do you think you're that valuable?"
She didn't sugarcoat it. To her, they were just the organization's lapdogs, only good for carrying out orders. If
they succeeded, everyone would be pleased, and their organization would give them their due. But now? They
had failed miserably.

"Even if | do let you go, do you really think they'll let you live?" she asked, pressing the point.
The leader fell silent, clenching his jaw. After a moment of hesitation, he made a decision. "You're right, Miss
Nina. So if you spare us, we won't go back. In exchange, | can give you information about the organization."
"Boss!" The others around him looked panicked. If they weren't so beaten down, they would probably have
rushed over to shut him up.
Sthings shouldn't be said carelessly because they could have serious consequences. Having failed their
mission, returning to the organization would certainly mean severe punishment, but at least they would be alive.
If they outright betrayed the organization, however, that would be a guaranteed death sentence and likely not
just for them but for their friends and family as well.
"Seems like your men don't fully agree with you," Nina said, stopping a few steps away from him. "There's a
police station nearby. All | need to do is make a call, and the police will be here in five minutes. I'm guessing you
don't even have IDs, right?"
She had her suspicions. While she
didn't know the details, it was clear that this organization wasn't based in the country, given that the kid they
sent last twasn't even local They were likely operating illegally, and with attempted murder charges, their
prospects would be grim.
"So, how about this? Tellthe nof your organization and explain why you're targeting my family," she
demanded.
Nina truly couldn't fathom why this was happening. She and Nash kept to themselves, living a quiet life. Why
would an organization have it out for them so ruthlessly? These people were merciless enough to even target a
baby. It was clear they wanted her entire family gone.
"Our organization is called...

Shadow," the leader said, with a resigned expression as if he had accepted his fate. "We were ordered to target
your family because the York family crossed our boss. Money was lost, and to our boss,
that's as good as murder. So, here
we are."
"All for that?" Nina narrowed her eyes, then kicked him hard. "Do you have any idea how many lives you've put
at risk?"
He winced, but didn't fight back. "I
know. If | had a choice, | wouldn't do it. But we're all orphans, taken in by the organization as kids. The
training was brutal, and if we didn't comply, we'd be tortured to death. Miss Nina, I've told you what you wanted
to know. Will you let us go now?"
Nina stayed silent, considering her next move.
