Chapter 278 Edward turned around. "Go lie down on the couch for a bit. It'll be ready soon." "No." Janice's voice was husky and soft, dangerously seductive.
She wrapped her arms around his waist. "Edward, you look so good." His hand paused in the middle of cutting vegetables. "You've toldbefore." Janice tilted her head slightly, her gaze locked on him as if nothing else in the world existed. "I really, really like you." Her feelings for Edward hadn't cout of nowhere.
When she left Refined Threads Co., she had to endure one of the darkest, most difficult periods of her life. And through it all, Edward had been there protecting her, never leaving her side. That kind of assurance... she had never felt it before.
She trusted him completely and without hesitation. She knew he would never hurt her and would always protect her.
Edward exhaled softly, giving up on cooking. Lowering his head, he placed a soft kiss at the corner of her lips and coaxed her, saying, "Be good. Go sit down, okay?" But the next second, Janice stood on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him instead. She whispered, "But I don't feel like sitting right now." That was all it took for Edward to abandon all restraint. Gripping her waist, he lifted her and carried her straight to the bedroom.

"Then how about I eat first and you eat after?" Janice let out a soft, breathy laugh as she tugged at his shirt and pulled him closer.
Edward's gaze darkened.
At 12:30 am, Janice finally made her way-slowly and sluggishly-to the kitchen. Her cheeks were still flushed, her expression irresistibly tempting.
Edward had just finished plating the food. "Go sit down." She leaned lazily against the kitchen doorway, tilting her head with a playful smile, not moving.
Edward glanced at her once, then walked over while balancing the dish in one hand and scooping her up with the other.
Janice let out a startled yelp.
At the dining table, he suddenly said, "When I have sfree time, you should teachhow to crochet." "Hm?" Janice blinked, surprised. "Why do you want to learn that?" "I want to make your wedding gown for when I marry you." Janice blurted out without thinking, "At the rate you'll go, that won't be until the next century." Edward's lips curved into a slow smirk. "So, that means you're looking forward to marrying me, huh?" She fell silent.
Unfazed, he picked up his plate and cutlery and moved closer. "Answer me. No silent treatment." Janice bit her fork while staring at him, still refusing to speak.
He sighed in defeat. "Fine. At least promiseyou'll personally teachwhen you have time." She wasn't sure if it was the alcohol's effects still lingering, but she blinked at him blankly and mumbled, "Like... a teacher and student thing?" The econd the words left her mouth, Edward's gaze darkened instantly as if a had just ignited in his eyes. It was burning-intense and dangerously wild.
He muttered to himself, "It hasn't even been that long since our last time... It's been like what, six days?" Janice, sensing the danger, quickly changed the subject to the banquet.
"I saw everything you said and did tonight," Edward remarked.

The only person who bulliesis you." Just an hour ago, she had been crying, begging him to stop, and he still wouldn't let her go.
Before she could react, Edward
pulled her onto his lap with ease, with one strong arm wrapped securely om around her waist. His smile was dangerously charming, his deep voice sending a shiver down her spine. "How exactly do I bully you?" Janice wasn't about to take the bait. Instead, she switched topics again. "Simon keeps hovering aroundlike a ghost. You're not mad?" "Why would I be?" Edward met her gaze, calm and unwavering.
"Getting revenge on him is exactly what you should do. It's what you e want to do. And whatever, nyo m girlfriend wants, I'll make sure she gets it'll set the stage, gather the perfect audience, and let you have all the fun."
What Janice didn't know was that over a third of the banquet guests had been personally invited by him ve Sof the business executives had even flown in from overseas just for the occasion. No matter what had happened tonigh the banquet would never have gone flat.
Edward had no intention of telling her, though. All he cared about was making sure she was happy.
