Chapter 101 "What?" Heidi protested.
After Edward went to Barbara's study for a video conference and took Janice along with him, Heidi returned from the balcony.
The moment she heard that Barbara wanted her to learn a new crochet technique from Janice, her first reaction was defiance. She was supposed to learn from Janice? Seeing her strong reaction, Barbara's expression grew colder.
Back when Heidi was working in cultural preservation, Barbara had helped her quite a bit. She used to think Heidi was just a spirited young woman, but now, she seemed immature.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCompared to Janice, who was always so calm and composed, Barbara found herself favoring Janice more and more.
"If you think it's inappropriate, then I'll find someone else," Barbara said coolly.
Noticing Barbara's displeasure, Heidi quickly replied, "I'll learn!" She gritted her teeth. "I'm happy to help you out, Mrs. Moore!" "Thank you in advance. Once the restoration is done, I'll personally cook a meal for you. Of course, you'll also be properly compensated for your work." Heidi lowered her head, her smile a bit strained. The last thing she wanted was to be Janice's student! From nearby, Valentina's sharp eyes caught something. "Heidi, what happened to your face?" Heidi touched her cheek. She had actually chere today to complain but almost forgot about it.
She quickly put on a hurt expression. "It's nothing serious. I just... I was worried that Ms. Smith might not likeand that we wouldn't be able to work together." "Not like you?" Valentina was puzzled.
"It's because she was the one who hit me." Barbara was surprised. "What? Why?" "Maybe she misunderstood something....... After all, I've always been close to Edward since we were kids. She probably got the wrong idea. But it's okay," Heidi said, looking pitiful.
Her words were followed by an awkward silence. Myra and Valentina quietly sipped their drinks, not commenting. Barbara paused, then went to get scream.
"Thank you, Mrs. Moore." "There must be a misunderstanding here. I'll ask Edward about it later," Barbara assured her. "I'll get to the bottom of this and give you a proper explanation. I apologize on Janice's behalf." Hearing this, Heidi felt even more upset. Wasn't this just another way of siding with Janice? Even so, she forced a smile. "It's alright, Mrs. Moore." When the food delivery arrived, Myra pulled Edward aside.
"Aunt Myra." Myra gestured toward the living room. "What's the deal with that Heidi?" "I have no interest in her." "Then sort it out quickly." Edward asked, "Did something happen?" Myra, who was about six or seven years younger than Barbara, still looked quite youthful. With a smirk, she said, "She said a lot just now. On the surface, she claimed she didn't mind Janice hitting her, but she kept insinuating that Janice was in the wrong." Did Heidi really think her little tricks were that hard to see through? How old was she? And how old were the women present here? Myra was thoroughly annoyed by Heidi's petty schemes.
Thankfully, Edward had nothing going on with that woman. If he did, she would have to reconsider how much tshe spent with him.

Edward's eyes darkened. In a cold voice, he said, "Janice hit herom to because she tried to trip Janice, use nearly sending her tumbling down the stairs." "What? That woman has the nerve to do that?" Myra was stunned.
Edward stayed silent for a moment before asking, "Is Uncle Terry busy lately?" "No, not really." "Good." Myra murmured to herself, "In that case, Janice went too easy on her." If it were her, she would have torn Heidi's legs off by now-or at the very least, made sure Heidi couldn't walk away unscathed!
"She's a good woman. Treat her well, and don't try to dominate her with! your temper, understand?" Edward hesitated before replying, "Got it." After lunch, Barbara arranged the schedule for Janice to teach Heidi before the couple left.
Before they left, Barbara reminded Edward, "Cvisitwhenever you're free. I'll be spending New Year's in Greenfield City this year." Edward gave her a slight nod.
At the back of the group, Heidi watched bitterly as Barbara fussed over Janice. Seeing how much both Valentine and Myra liked Janice Valentina made Heidi burn with jealousy! But it didn't matter. The opinions of the Moore family didn't count. The only one who truly mattered was Edward's father, Robert. His word was law.
She refused to believe that Robert would allow a woman with such a scandalous past to marry Edward!
