Chapter 834
Meanwhile, at Westwood Manor.
The night had fully cloaked the world outside, and Hayes sat at the desk, his mouse rapidly clicking away as he
battled the colorful cartoon patterns on the
screen.
Margot was perched beside him, her eyes glued to the screen with a mix of anticipation and nerves, watching
Hayes attempt to beat Level 300 of "Candy Match" for her.
The game's music was upbeat, but Hayes couldn't muster any excitement. He felt a bit awkward since he hadn't
found any chat apps on Margot's computer.
Without pausing his game, he blurted out, "Don't you ever chat online? Why don't you have any chat programs?"
"Oh, | do!" Margot lifted her wrist and pointed at her smartwatch. "I use this to chat!"
Hayes was puzzled. "Then why do you have such a high-end computer?" Margot's face lit up with innocence. "For
playing Candy Match, of course!" Hayes was speechless.
He had assumed something was off when he noticed how advanced Margot's computer was. Margot always
seemed a bit clueless, the type who wouldn't know much about anything.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtOn the other hand, the mysterious online friend he was trying to uncover seemed to have shacker skills and
could explain technical stuff like wafer technology
in detail. Surely, they knew their way around a computer.
So when Hayes saw Margot's setup, he thought he might be onto something. But this computer was as clean as
a whistle!
Apart from different versions of Candy Match, there was nothing else on it!
He pondered this as he cleared the last pattern from the screen. The gplayed
a victorious applause, and Margot sprang off her chair, hugging Hayes and bouncing up and down with
excitement.
"Hayes, you're amazing! I've been stuck on this level for a week and couldn't get past it!"
Ufo
Was it really that hard?
Candy Match was all about quick eyes and fast hands. How could Margot struggle with something so simple?
Could she really be that clueless?
Hayes looked at her with doubt, while Margot grinned, her cheeks puffed up adorably.
"Could you helpwith one more level, please?"
With a resigned smile, Hayes nodded, settling back into his chair and clicking to start the next level.
Margot leaned in, about to say something, when suddenly the doorbell echoed through the house.
"Sounds like we have visitors! I'll go check!"
Margot dashed out of the room, leaving Hayes alone once more.
This would have been a propportunity to search for evidence, but Hayes
didn't budge. He'd already looked everywhere he could think of.
The room was filled with toys, and nothing else. Even the easel and paints yielded no clues.
Everything pointed to the fact that Margot was neither Teresa nor the mysterious online friend.
But how did her dad's appearance fit into all of this?
The more Hayes thought about it, the more frustrated he became. He breezed through another glevel and
leaned back in his chair with his arms crossed, feeling stuck.
Yet, his gaze suddenly fell on a manila folder on the desk.
The document inside was partially visible, and its texture looked eerily similar to the image the mysterious friend
had sent him the previous night!
In an instant, hope flared up again.
If the two images matched, it would prove that Margot was indeed the mysterious friend!
With that thought, Hayes reached out with his small hand, ready to unveil the truth.
