Chapter 826
As soon as they left the hospital, Marguerite and little Margot headed back to school.
It was the end of the school day, so Margot barely waited for Marguerite's car to cto a stop before she
dashed off towards the familiar SUV parked under a large oak tree across the narrow street.
From where Marguerite stood, she could see Silas stepping out of the driver's seat and gently securing Margot in
the backseat's child safety seat.
Margot seemed to chat with him about something, and Silas cast a glance in their direction. His eyes were as
deep and sorrowful as ever, carrying a meaning Marguerite couldn't quite decipher.
Silas always looked at her like that, and it made Marguerite's heart race with unease.
She wanted to avoid the confrontation, but felt she should at least get out of the car to explain Margot's little
bump on the head. Yet, before she could even open her door, Silas had climbed back into the driver's seat,
started the engine, and
drove away.
Not a single word was exchanged between them, but it left Marguerite with a mix of emotions.

week ago. There was no need to get so emotionally tangled.
She quickly pulled her thoughts back to the present as the backseat door swung open, and Hayes and Manley
clambered in, all smiles and energy.
"Ms. Marguerite, Uncle Tony just dropped us off, and we saw your car! Did you cespecially to pick us up?"
Marguerite glanced at the two excited boys through the rearview mirror and simply nodded, "Yep. I'm taking you
htoday."
Manley cheered, while Hayes remained as composed as ever.
Once they were securely buckled in, Marguerite started the car and drove away from the school.
She had planned to drop Hayes and Manley off and then head back to her apartment, but as soon as they
stepped into the house, an unusual buzz of excitement greeted them.
Miley and Robert were back from their honeymoon, eagerly handing out gifts and delighting Penelope and
Jocelyn with their surprises.
Hayes and Manley ran to them, playfully demanding, "Uncle Robert, Aunt Miley, where are our gifts?"
Miley quickly pulled out a Transformer toy for Manley. "Here you go, buddy. Just for you."
Manley was over the moon, even though his collection of Transformers was already quite extensive. He never
seemed to tire of them.
Hayes, on the other hand, stood patiently behind Manley, waiting quietly as if he were in a line.
Robert pulled a large, unboxed computer from his suitcase. "Hayes, this is a custom-built computer | put
together just for you. Every part was hand-picked and it's heavy as heck! Aren't you grateful?"
Hayes, ever calm and collected, gently kissed Robert's cheek, "Thanks, Uncle."
The warm scene eased the lingering sadness in Marguerite's heart. The house
had instantly beclively with Robert and Miley's return.
Robert ruffled Hayes's hair, "You don't seem all that impressed."
Marguerite stepped in with a smile, "Oh, he is. You know him best, Robert. He just doesn't show it."
Just then, Manley pulled a brand new Snow White costout of Miley's suitcase. He held it up against Miley, his
brow furrowing in confusion.
"Aunt Miley, why would you want to dress up as Snow White? And besides, this isn't even your size!"
Miley spun around, hastily hiding the dress behind her back, meeting Marguerite's amused gaze with a sheepish
look.
Marguerite chuckled knowingly, "Is it a gift for Teresa?"
