Chapter 762
Margaret had been out cold for a solid three days and nights.
Waking up felt surreal.
In her dreams, she had cto terms with the grim fate that had befallen Nick and Theresa.
Yet, bizarrely enough, she still saw them.
She could touch Theresa and Nick, feel their skin against hers, though it was cool to the touch.
She asked Nick, "Why are we together? And where are we heading now? Home?"
Nick offered no reply, only a smile, but Theresa, ever the spirited one, chimed in, "Mommy, we're off to heaven!"
"Heaven?" Margaret looked around at the misty surroundings, unable to discern any direction. "How did you find
me?"
"Our souls were floating in the air, then we saw you standing all alone on the ground. You looked so lonely, and |
didn't want you to be by yourself. So, daddy and | thought we'd take you with us."
Margaret found it hard to believe, even more, incredible.
But what did it matter whether it was reality or a dream? As long as she was with her loved ones, why fuss over
the details?
"Don't dilly-dally, Mommy. | hear there's a queue to get into heaven! We've got to get moving!"
With that, Margaret felt herself becoming lighter.
Nick took her hand, and they flew, his eyes shining with the usual honesty and warmth.

Margaret saw babbling brooks, lovers and children calling to each other from across mountains.
She had never seen such wondrous sights and couldn't wait to share them with Nick and Theresa.
But they were nowhere to be seen. Margaret's heart tightened, and she frantically called their names, but no
sound cfrom her lips.
Then, a strong sensation of falling hit her, and she plummeted straight down into a soft, large bed.
When she opened her eyes, she heard the anxious voices of servants and Sandra.
She whispered, "Where am I?"
After a thorough check, the doctor reported in English to Sandra, "Madam, Mrs. Margaret is fine. She just needs a
few days of rest."
Sandra sighed deeply and turned to the servants, "Go! Bring the chicken soup, quick!"
Margaret was propped up by two servants, feeling dizzy, and the bland chicken soup Sandra offered didn't
appeal to her at all.
She looked weakly at Sandra and asked, "Where are Theresa and Nick?"
Sandra paused, handed the bowl back to a servant, cleared her throat, and seemed troubled.
"Margaret, listen to me. After you cback, we sent people to the hospital to inquire about them.
| heard the doctors managed to remove the bullets from Nick and Theresa. They've been in a deep coma but
were recovering.
However, this morning, during rounds, the doctors discovered that Nick and Theresa... disappeared."
Margaret's eyes snapped open, "What do you mean, disappeared?"
"We've sent people to look into it! Don't get worked up. Maybe, Nick woke up and took Theresa to find us!
Our people are stationed on every street from the hospital to the neighborhood. As soon as they're spotted, we'll
bring them back.
You should be happy. They were moved from the ICU to a regular ward yesterday. The worst is over."
Perhaps it was Sandra's soothing voice that gave Margaret a bit of strength.
She didn't doubt, her worries slowly fading away.
So, Nick and Theresa were still alive in this world?
But where could they be?
She missed them so much...
After a brief stay, Sandra was called away by a phone call.
Margaret felt weak all over and decided to get up and walk around.
After lying down for three days without any injuries, her body seemed to have deteriorated somewhat.
She had to lean on the wall to take a few steps.
She remembered how Nick used to sit quietly at the desk, watching her with eyes
brimming with tenderness, always making Margaret surrender.
So, she took Nick's usual seat, her delicate fingers gently brushing the desk surface, as if touching his face.
But her gaze suddenly fell on a corner of an envelope sticking out from a large dictionary.
Instinctively, she pulled it out. On the vintage blue envelope, "Margaret" was written.
She recognized the handwriting immediately - it was Nick's!
Margaret's heart raced as she hastily opened the envelope, the full penmanship still bearing the scent of fresh
