Chapter 704

Violet's blunt words had even Marguerite gasping for air.

Just a few days ago, Violet had tried to suggest that Penelope's car accident was no accident at all, and that Yuna

seemed unusually terror-stricken anyther hallucinations con...

Marguerite knew exactly what Violet was hinting at, but she chose to deny it.

Firstly, Marguerite had too much faith in human nature. She couldn't believe that Yuna, despite her rebellious

ways, could ever harm her own mother.

Secondly, Marguerite feared that if Yuna overheard Violet's accusations, it would only lead to more trouble.

But today, Violet brought it up again, this tright in front of Yuna, with even more conviction and clarity.

Probably fearing her impending dismissal, Violet let the accusations slip in a moment of resentment.

Marguerite quickly shot Violet a warning glance, signaling her to say no more. Reluctantly, Violet clamped her

mouth shut, but Yuna was far from calm.

She turned as pale as a ghost, her eyes darting around in alarm, and she grabbed Violet, demanding:

"What do you mean by 'guilty conscience'? What are you insinuating, Violet?" Yuna's outburst left Violet petrified,

her fear palpable as she struggled to respond.

"| didn't mean anything, Ms. Lockwood! You've got it all wrong!"

Yuna, however, was beyond listening. She stormed over to Marguerite, fury and humiliation fueling her as she

grabbed Marguerite by the throat:

"Marguerite! What exactly have you been telling Violet?"

Marguerite, gasping for air, managed to choke out, "I... What could | possibly say?"

In the struggle, Marguerite found herself pushed onto the couch, with Yuna now on top of her.

Violet rushed over, pulling at Yuna's arm with all her might, "Ms. Lockwood, please let her go! Mr. Winston won't

stand for this! Please, release her!"

"Shut your mouth! Wench!"

Yuna roared, elbowing Violet in the stomach hard enough to send her tumbling several feet away.

"Marguerite, where were you the day Penelope had her accident? What did you see? Speak! If you don't, | swear

I'll choke the life out of you!"

The suffocating grip made Marguerite's head spin, "I was... | was at work... I've given my statement to the police,

if you don't believe me, we can go ask them!"

"The police..." Yuna murmured to herself.

Guilt made even the slightest suspicion unbearable for her.

So, the mention of "the police" hit her like a hammer, sending her into a panic.

Her grip loosened slightly out of fear.

Marguerite suggesting they go to the police was her worst nightmare!

That witch must know everything!

The more Yuna thought about it, the more terrified she became, losing all sense of reason and blurting out in

desperation:

"Why should I listen to you? You can't prove | had anything to do with Penelope's death!"

"I never said it was about you! Psycho!"

Marguerite retorted, pushing Yuna away to escape from the couch, her cheeks flushed as she helped Violet to

her feet.

In that electrifying moment, Marguerite was struck by a sudden realization. What did Yuna just say?

She said, "You can't prove | had anything to do with Penelope's death!?"
