Chapter 633 As Marguerite stepped into the office, she was immediately struck by the sight of Penelope and Frederick deep in conversation.

She raised an eyebrow, recalling Frederick's message about his morning meeting. "That was quick," she thought. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Miley, practically starry-eyed at the sight of her future mother-in-law, scurrying off to the break room to diligently prepare Penelope's favorite English Breakfast tea.

Penelope gestured for Marguerite to cover, her serene face radiating kindness. "Marguerite, dear, chere," she said with a warm smile.

Marguerite approached, trying not to focus on Frederick's mysterious yet handsgrin that seemed to play at the edges of her understanding.

She averted her gaze from his piercing eyes and turned to Penelope, saying softly, "You wanted to speak to me?" Penelope lovingly took Marguerite's hands, a mix of adoration and regret in her voice: "Marguerite, I'm so sorry about yesterday at the hospital. I hope you weren't too embarrassed. If I made you uncomfortable, I apologize. The thing is, for a moment, I thought you were my daughter. And I regret that you're not my own. But you should know, in my heart, I've cto see you as the daughter I never had. And I believe my Yuna feels the same." Marguerite was touched-her emotions a whirlwind. She had long cut ties with the Lockwood family, yearning for a mother's love and protection, to not be alone.

In this moment, a bond of empathy formed between Marguerite and Penelope.

Fighting back emotion, Marguerite replied with feigned strength, "Penelope, everything happens for a reason. If I can't be your daughter, then I'm proud to be your goddaughter." Penelope's face lit up with joy, continuously patting Marguerite's hand. "Goddaughter it is! But I must ask, why haven't I ever seen you wear the silk scarf gave you? Your style is so much like mine. I was hoping we could go out in matching outfits someday-imagine how stunning we'd look together!" Penelope had dreamt of dressing her daughter up like a little princess and hitting the streets in chic mother- daughter outfits. But missing out on Yuna's childhood, and with Yuna's return not fitting the image she had in mind, Penelope now placed all her cherished hopes on Marguerite.

Marguerite remained silent, her lips pressed together. She wasn't Penelope's biological daughter, and going out in matching outfits might stir up trouble with Yuna if she found out.

Yet, she didn't want to shatter Penelope's lovely aspirations, so she simply smiled without a word.

Penelope then turned to Frederick, remembering an important matter: "Frederick, I must clarify something to avoid any misunderstanding. The betrothal we once spoke of was brought up again because we mistakenly believed Marguerite was our daughter. I'm not afraid of being laughed at for this-it was all done in the hopes of bringing you and Marguerite back together!"

Marguerite was taken aback. She knew of the arranged marriage m between Yuna and Frederick but hadn't realized its revival was for her and Frederick's sake.

Penelope sighed, "Fate can be so cruel. We got the wrong girl, and when Yuna found out, she kept m pushing Hackett into it, indirectly causing you and Marguerite pain. I'm sorry about that, but rest assured, I'll talk to Hackett and make him give up this engagement."

Frederick maintained his slight smile, nodding his head with @relaxed tone, do "You're too kind, Penelope." But before anyone could respond further, a thunderous slam echoed through the room.

With a resounding "bang," Yuna stormed in, fuming with indignation.
