Chapter 1850:
“The Foster family that built their fortune through strategic marriages?” Elyse’s memory clicked into place. “But
they haven't been in the picture for a long time. | haven't heard their nin ages,” she mused, her thoughts
drifting to the past.
“That's because Joanna got married,” Theo explained, “and Kieran, wary of provoking Jayden’s wrath, kept the
family out of sight.”
Elyse nodded in understanding, then pressed, “But what does the Foster family have to do with Jayden’s
disappearance?”
Theo's expression darkened. “Joanna recently passed away during labor, and Kieran has been making some...
moves.”
Elyse stiffened in shock. “Joanna is dead? But Kieran wouldn't blus for that, would he? We had nothing to do

Theo rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Word has it that before she died, Joanna's mind was consumed with thoughts
of Jayden. She harbored resentment toward you and wanted revenge. Kieran might be picking up where she left
off."
Elyse let out an exasperated sigh. “Are these siblings completely out of their minds? Joanna was bad enough, but
Kieran is just as unhinged?”
Theo's lips curled into a half-smile, though there was no humor in it. “There's definitely something off about him,
but one thing is clear—he’s plotting something. | just haven't figured out exactly what he’s done to Jayden.”
Elyse was about to respond when a sudden wave of dizziness washed over her, her vision blurring as she
slumped sideways.
Theo's eyes widened in alarm as he caught her just in time. “Are you alright?”
She murmured weakly, “I just... feel a little off. Don’t worry about me.”
Theo reached out, his palm resting against her forehead—burning hot. His expression shifted instantly. “You have
a fever.” His voice turned firm as he instructed the driver, “Get to the hospital. Now.”

Meanwhile, Chloe fumbled with her phone, trying to call for backup, but before she could dial, Theo’s car sped off
with Elyse inside.
Her heart pounded as she chased after the vehicle, shouting, “Hey! Where are you taking her? Give Elyse back
to me! You insufferable jerk, is kidnapping someone else's wife your idea of fun?”
Theo didn’t hear a word. His entire focus was on the pale woman beside him.
When they reached the hospital, Theo wasted no tgetting Elyse checked in. As they waited for the test
results, Peyton arrived, his face unusually serious. He pulled Theo aside and said in a hushed yet urgent tone,
“Elyse can’t have an IV drip. Take her to the fifth floor.”
Theo frowned, perplexed. “The fifth floor? That's for gynecology and obstetrics, isn’t it?”
Peyton's expression flickered with a storm of emotions. “Yes,” he said, his voice steady despite the turmoil
within. “The fifth floor. Get her up there—now.”
Theo didn’t waste a second. In one swift motion, he gathered Elyse into his arms and bolted toward the elevator.
On the fifth floor, the truth was laid bare—Elyse was pregnant. But the combination of her fragile emotional state
and the relentless fever placed her at grave risk of miscarriage.
She was admitted immediately for observation. Theo never left her side, his eyes fixed on her as though sheer
willpower could anchor her to safety. A heavy weight settled in his chest, suffocating and inescapable.
Hours dragged on, each one an eternity, until finally, the fever loosened its grip on her. Slowly, her
consciousness resurfaced. Her lashes fluttered as her eyes struggled to focus. The first thing she saw was Theo,
his face etched with worry. She took in the sterile white walls, the quiet hum of medical equipment.
