I was waiting for someone. I knew that much. I casually glanced to my side to see a familiar girl sitting next to me. She was strumming the ukulele as I turned to look the other way. The smell of the sea reached my nose as I sucked it in. It felt good to be back here. The familiar girl sung one of the many tunes I've heard over the months and I casually tapped along to it.
It was natural for me to do such a thing. I don't know how long I went but I went on for quite awhile. Until I felt you.
"Lee?" My voice called out. I stood up and looked around. The familiar girl looked at me as I took in my surroundings. I was in some sort of cafe-esque building. It felt like I was back home.
"What's wrong" The familiar girl asked. I turned to look at her with my face telling her all she needed to know. "Did you hear him?"
"I—" I didn't know what to say. "I thought I felt a connection for a second. That… That connection we had." I sat down as the girl nodded.
"How long have we been waiting for the Elder? He said he'd be right back and left us here for quite some time." The girl asked. I shrugged. I didn't know what she was talking about. I didn't even know what I was talking about.
"Give it some time. He has to deal with his little town he's watching over." I told her.
'What do you mean by that?' Lee Seng asked.
I yawn as I stretch my arms. I feel sore like I've been traveling.
"So," the girl spoke up. I look at her. "Why do you think the goddess wanted me to come with you? I still haven't gotten anything from Rox'su and Tear'a."
'Wait. Why does that sound familiar?' Lee Seng asked himself. 'Rox'su and Tear'a… A girl playing a ukulele…'
"I'm not sure." I answer. "Maybe it's Savior business."
'Savior business. It sounds so familiar… Why can't I remember?' Lee Seng asked. He tried to take control of whatever was happening but the scene continued to play like he was just a viewer.
The bells chimed and I look towards the door to our left. A woman in a dress fit for beach viewing steps in. I instantly know who she is. I stand up and give a little bow.
"Ah, there you are. Didn't expect you to be in my humble little shop." The woman smiles. The familiar girl next to me stands and bows. The woman raises her hand. "Don't need to be so formal. I'm only here to guide you as Elder Jyu'so cannot."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt'Elder Jyu'so…' Lee Seng repeats the name. 'I know that.' The dream-like scene shimmers and breaks. Lee Seng's field of vision pulls from 'himself' to behind 'himself.' Keng and Lily stand and look at the beach dress woman.
"You're the one who made those…" Keng turned to look at Lily. "The taste test."
"Yes. How'd you know it was me? Are you one of us?" The woman leaned in. She had a soft smile as she kept her hands folded in front of her. She gave off the vibes of an aunt.
"He is." Lily pointed at Keng. "I'm not."
"What did you taste?" The woman asked, taking a step closer.
"It tasted like food but I immediately got a picture of you next to the beach over there." Keng pointed to the right. The woman nodded and moved over to the bar behind Keng and Lily.
"Interesting." The woman nodded. "Y'know, when they asked me to make those, they wanted me to leave an imprint. If anyone were to ever gain 'taste' as one of their Energy Senses, it would make them come straight to me. There's very few of us."
"How many have you've seen?" Lily asked, turning around. The woman thought about it for a moment as she casually started to make a drink.
"One before the boy here." The woman pointed.
"Only one other? Is it that rare?" Keng asked.
"I'm one of few Taste experts. I work in a cafe for God King's sake." The woman chuckled. "Oh, I am rude! I haven't even introduced myself to you two. I'm the humble owner of the Beach Brew Cafe, Rell. You two are Keng and Lily, correct?"
"Yup." Lily nodded. "Nice to meet you, Miss Rell. It's an honor to be in your care." Keng nodded and felt another strange ping. He turned around and for a moment, he felt like he knew Lee Seng was with him.
[Notice: A temporary connection has been made.]
'Keng?' Lee Seng called out. 'Can you hear me?'
"Lee Seng?" Keng spoke aloud. Rell and Lily looked at him.
"What's he saying?" Rell asked.
"Keng. You should go over there for a bit." Lily tugged at him. Keng nodded and wandered away from the bar.
"What's going on?" Rell asked.
"Don't mind him for a bit. It's the first time I'm hearing about this, but he's talking to his partner." Lily told Rell.
"Well, what am I going to do with this extra drink?" Rell poured a green-blue drink on ice and lifted two up. "I made one for all three of us."
"He'll come back for it in a minute." Lily smiled.
Keng made his way to one of the chairs on the other end and sat in it.
'Lee? Is that really you?' Keng asked.
'WOW! I thought I was dreaming, but I guess it really is just you!' Lee Seng happily chimed. Keng looked at the other side of the table and Lee Seng sat in the chair. His form looked a bit rougher and a strange liquid bracelet was attached to his left wrist.
[Notice: Overflow of souls… Matching discrepancies….]
"What happened to you?" Keng asked.
"Oh," Lee Seng looked down at him. "All of this?" Keng nodded. "Well, it's a long story. Do you have that pinpoint thing telling you where you are? Cause I'm in Limbo."
"Why? Did something happen? You were on Earth one second and then Limbo the next." Keng leaned forward. Lee Seng waved his hand and folded his arms.
"No. Nothing like that." Lee Seng replied. Lily walked over and caught Keng's attention. She lifted the drink to her face and then set it down.
"Oh, th-thanks." Keng nodded. Lily smiled and walked back to the bar.
"It seems you're really with Lily." Lee Seng commented. "Anything with that?"
"N-no." Keng shook his head. He grabbed the drink and began to drink it.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"You even knew I was alluding to that?" Lee Seng raised his eyebrows a couple of times.
"Shut up. Tell me why you're in Limbo!" Keng set the cup on the table.
"Okay, okay. Just teasing you." Lee Seng chuckled. "I'm here because Fate has plans for me to be a rock until you come back to Earth."
"A rock?" Keng leaned forward. "What do you mean by that?!?" Lee Seng bit the inside of his cheek.
"How do I explain that? Well… There was many meetings with the gods of the many Realms and God King Dathro was told by Fate that we would reunite but to save me from the cruel fate of this fake demon in me, I'm going to have to be a rock. Cain took that information given to him and made me his Debt Collector until I'm to be turned int oa rock."
"Cain? Debt Collector? W-what?"
"Oh, yeah. You're not there." Lee Seng sighed. "This sucks… Well, Cain is the Hat Man and he's apparently the god of Limbo. He oversees Limbo and the passing between that Realm to the next. He's the head of the things that watch Limbo. He has like four other lackeys. All of them having mixed reactions about me. I basically made a contract with Cain to be his Debt Collector for a month before I turn into stone."
"And Debt Collecting is?"
"I basically resolve problems for spirits in Limbo so they can, I guess, move on. I'm currently on a mission. I think I fell asleep and connected with you." Lee Seng tapped his chin.

"It's telling me you've leveled up twice." Keng told Lee Seng.
"Oh, that? Yeah. Five tails now." Lee Seng's form shifted in front of Keng and five tails appeared behind.
"Woah." Keng covered his mouth. "You got five already? I thought it would take forever."
"Well, I need like 10,000 souls for the sixth tail. I bet it's going to get even more crazy from there." Lee Seng sighed.
"How's five tails treating ya?" Keng asked.
"Mmm, it's been hard to use it. Honestly, I was cut off from my Fox powers for a bit because of the fake demon."
"The fake demon?" Keng asked, confused.
"Mmmhm that thing that's apparently the Protocol now."
