| raised my hand to hit him again and he flinched, shutting his mouth.
“You're sentenced to two months of community service in the Silvermoori soup kitchen,” | said, wiping my hand
on my pants and turning away. “Maybe that'll teach you shumility.”

As the guard led Alvin past us, he sneered at Melody in Viona’s arms. The baby, sensing the hostility. began to

As we climbed into the car, | caught sight of Alvin being roughly shoved into another vehicle. He was still
muttering and complaining, his words slurred and barely coherent.
| shook my head, feeling utterly exhausted. Viona and | shared a look of annoyance.
