“I'm asking you—when did you figure it out?” Andrea snapped, acting like a total queen, her whole
demeanor sharp and nearly hysterical.
Rebecca shot her a sideways glance.
Her gaze stayed chilly and indifferent, just like always, but somehow Andrea couldn't shake the feeling that
Rebecca knew everything. ‘She's got that sdeadpan look, but | just know she’s onto me, Andrea thought,
her emotions spiraling out of control and her voice rising in desperation. “Say something!”
“When you were running all over town, using your so-called debt to threaten Jeffrey,” Rebecca replied
offhandedly, totally making it up as she went.
‘Just who was Andrea pretending to be?‘ Rebecca wondered.
‘How did Jeffrey never catch on that Andrea wasn’t who she said she was?‘ she thought.
‘And how did Andrea catch on in the first place?’ Rebecca couldn't help but wonder.
Right now, she didn’t have answers to any of this-all she could do was keep poking, hoping Andrea might let
something slip.
“No way,” Andrea forced herself to stay calm. “If you really knew | was a fake, why didn’t you expose me?”
“By the t| figured it out, Jeffrey had already hurtbecause of you,” Rebecca continued, spinning her story
with a straight face. “Out of pure spite, | wanted to see the look on his face when he found out the truth.”
Andrea tried to catch Rebecca in a lie, searching her face for any sign of deception.
But Rebecca's expression was so real, it almost seemed like she had all the answers.
“Anything else?” Rebecca asked, clearly not wanting to stick around any longer. “If not, get lost.”
“You're lying!” Andrea shot back, refusing to back down, her eyes locked on Rebecca. “You don’t know a thing.”
“Even if | didn’t know before, do you really think I'm clueless now?” Rebecca replied, her tone dripping with
indifference.
The more Rebecca acted like this, the more Andrea’s confidence wavered. For the whole minute that followed,
Andrea couldn't take her eyes off Rebecca's face, searching for any sign of weakness.
Andrea racked her brain, trying to spot any clues from the past, but all she could dredge up were those endless
clashes with Rebecca and Jeffrey's words-sweet on the surface, but ice cold underneath. Nothing else made
sense, and it drove her nuts.
“Then spit it out-who exactly is that person?” Andrea demanded, her gaze still locked onto Rebecca.
Rebecca stayed silent.

Her face said it all-she was so over it, completely uninterested in playing along.

Up to now, Rebecca still wasn’t sure-did Andrea hear about what happened between Jeffrey and that woman.
from someone else, or was she actually close to her and took her identity?
Either way, if Rebecca said one wrong word, Andrea would be onto her in a heartbeat.
“Didn’t you just say | didn’t know anything?” Rebecca said, dodging the question and keeping the ggoing.
“You seriously don’t know a thing.” Andrea shot back, her brain finally kicking into gear. Her eyes stayed glued to
Rebecca's face. “If you actually knew what was going on, you'd have spit it out ages ago. The only reason you
keep dodging is because you're just as clueless as | thought.”
If Rebecca had figured out Andrea was impersonating someone else, she wouldn't have hesitated-she would've
blown Andrea's cover in a heartbeat.
Andrea knew firsthand how Jeffrey stuck by her all because of that promise. If Rebecca actually was the real
lifesaver, why wouldn't she use that promise to force Jeffrey to dump Andrea for good?
All it would take is for Rebecca to say the word-Jeffrey would comply, no questions asked.
Long story short? Rebecca was totally in the dark.
“Rebecca, as long as you handa fat stack of cash and make sure Jeffrey will never trackdown, I'll spill
who that person really is,” Andrea bargained.
Rebecca just kept her hand steady on the wheel, staying silent.
Andrea kept pushing, “Having that person show up? You and Jeffrey could split for good, no hassle.”
Rebecca paused.
She shot Andrea a sideways glance.
“So, what do you say?” Andrea pressed.
“You couldn't do it, but you think they can?” Rebecca said, skepticism clear in her voice.
No question, when Andrea went to Jeffrey, she totally tried to get him to ditch Rebecca and put a ring on her
instead. But Jeffrey, being Mr. Honor-Bound, had sworn up and down he’d never break things off with Rebecca-so
Andrea’s whole schblew up in her face.
Just thinking about it left Andrea seething. ‘Seriously, why does Rebecca get all the breaks?’ she raged.
Trying to rein in her frustration and keep her secret locked down, Andrea said, “Yeah, she’s got that special
something with Jeffrey.”
Rebecca's fingers traced slow circles on the steering wheel.
Getting out of her marriage for a wad of cash? Honestly, it sounded like easy money. The only catch-she really
didn’t want to owe Andrea anything.

“You know Jeffrey's not about to divorce you, and you know just how much of a headache a court battle would
be,” Andrea pressed, practically begging Rebecca to say yes. “You've got a shot at freedom right in front of you
are you really going to pass it up?”
“Don’t bother trying to eggon,” Rebecca replied, refusing to give in right away.
The more indifferent Rebecca seemed, the more on edge Andrea felt.
Rebecca mulled over their conversation before finally asking, “Where is this person? How long till they get to
Honnala?”
“Three days tops,” Andrea replied, playing her cards close to the chest-mixing truth with lies was the only way to
keep Rebecca guessing. “I swear, once she knows what's going on, she'll help you get that divorce. If she
doesn’t, you can ratout to Jeffrey-no hard feelings.”
Rebecca shot her a sideways glance.
For Andrea to say something like that, she must be pretty damn sure of herself.
‘But who is this person, and how the hell is she supposed to make Jeffrey break the promise he made toon
our wedding day?‘ Rebecca wondered.
“Letspell it out for you—this person isn't just Jeffrey's savior, she means the world to him,” Andrea said,
keeping her poker face locked in. “When it comes to his promise to her, everyone else—including you-gets
pushed to the back of the line.”
“I'll think about it,” Rebecca replied, refusing to say yes right away. “I'll let you know when I've made up my
mind.”
Andrea shot back, “No deal.”
Rebecca didn’t miss a beat. “Then I'm out.”
Andrea was about ready to blow her top.
She swallowed down her frustration and kept jabbing, “Miss this shot and you'll just end up taking it to court with
Jeffrey. Aren’t you scared you'll lose?”
“Yeah, I'm scared,” Rebecca said, cool as ever, her eyes calm and steady. “But you're way more freaked out than
lam.”
Andrea froze.
Rebecca didn’t hold back. “You're dying to run because you know your little savior act is about to blow up, right?
If I lose in court, | can always keep fighting-but what about you?”
Rebecca knew exactly what kind of tricks Jeffrey could pull.
Andrea had been scamming him for ages, playing the fake savior just to soak him for cash and affection. But
once the truth cout, she was screwed-he’d make her pay for every lie.

“Fine!” Andrea finally got a grip on herself. “I'll give you tto think it over, but you've got two days-no more.
Giveyour answer by then.”
Rebecca didn’t bother to answer, just motioned for her to get out.
Andrea was fuming as she got out, slamming the door behind her with a loud bang.
For a split second, Andrea seriously considered getting rid of Rebecca right there-she almost had it in her to just
finish things. But this was downtown Honnala, and with how protective Jeffrey was of Rebecca, there were
probably bodyguards lurking in the shadows, just waiting for any trouble.
That thought stopped her, but Andrea wasn’t finished-she grabbed the door handle and jerked it twice, but of
course it was locked. Frustrated, she slammed her fist against the window over and over, making a scene.
Rebecca rolled the window down just a crack, barely enough to catch Andrea’s words.
“Givethe dashcam, now.” Andrea snapped, suddenly on edge about what it might've caught. “Or delete
everything we just talked about. | mean it!”
Rebecca didn’t give her the tof day-she just started the car and drove away without a second glance.
Andrea jumped back, freaked out, and cursed at the receding taillights. “Rebecca, you've lost your damn mind!”
Not far away, Tommy was chilling in a black sedan, taking in every second of the . As Rebecca's car rolled
away, he started tailing her-Bluetooth in one ear. “Andrea just stormed out of Ms. Jensen’s car. She looks
furious,” he said into the mic.
Barry was on duty outside the hospital, keeping an eye out. “Ms. Jensen’s good, right?” he murmured.
Tommy responded, tone all serious, “She's fine. Drove off just now.”
“Good,” Barry said, finally sounding relieved. “Keep up the shadows, man. Don’t let her spot you.”
