Chapter 680
“At the last party, you and Edward seemed like total strangers,” Nathan finally blurted out, unable to hold it in
any longer.
| glanced around, feeling a little guilty. “Well, actually, we go way back.”
“Then why didn’t you talk to him that night?” he insisted. “Was he jealous when you danced with me?”
“Victoria, was | just sridiculous blip in your relationship that night?” Nathan's voice suddenly turned rough
and pained. “Were you two secretly into each other while | was left clueless?”
“No, it’s not like that!” | shot back right away. “Honestly... we had a fight that day, so | just ignored him.”
Nathan still felt betrayed, his voice thick with sadness. “Why didn’t you tellearlier? If you had, | would've
backed off that night. | would never have interfered.”
“Nathan, I'm sorry. It’s all my fault. | didn’t say anything because we hadn't gotten to that point yet,” | said,
feeling really guilty as | listened to the hurt in his voice.
“I always end up looking like a joke...” he muttered.
“Don’t say that. There's no right or wrong in matters of the heart. That night, | was truly grateful for your
invitation. You're sincere, and that’s one of your best traits. Please don’t let someone likemake you question
your worth,” | said, my eyes stinging with tears. | couldn't help but wonder, ‘What kind of villain am | really
playing here?’
Nathan went quiet.
| tilted my head back and looked up
at the sky, refusing to let the tears fall. | knew love was always messy. Even though | owed speople, once
things ended, | never went out of my way to interfere in their lives. | just happened to cross paths with them at
the wrong moments, that’s all.

“Wish you happiness!” Nathan said, then hung up in a hurry.
| gripped my phone, took a long breath, and finally managed a smile.
If this could help Nathan move on from all this and let someone else into his life, maybe it was for the best.
| didn’t need any man to wait around for me-because honestly, | wasn’t that kind of person either.
| got my emotions in check and went to meet Edward.
He looked like he'd just cfrom sfancy event, dressed in a classic black-and-white business suit. His
thick, dark hair was slicked back, making him look even more intimidating. With that getup, he gave off a cold,
unapproachable vibe.
When he walked in, I froze for a second.
Honestly, Edward always seemed way out of everyone's league, with this ‘keep your distance’ aura. When |

first met him, | thought he was exactly that type, so | always tried to steer clear.

But now, he shrugged off his jacket, just wearing a crisp white shirt and a black vest. On his usually stern face,
there was a gentle smile that felt totally out of place on him.
“Have you been waiting long?” he asked.
“I'm not in a rush,” | said with a smile.
As soon as Edward sat down, the food was served. He actually got a personal chef cooking at his place just for
me, so every day | get to eat all kinds of regional specialties from Aurelia.
Now | totally get why rich kids travel overseas for school with their own chef and housekeeper in tow.
“I'm heading to Aurelia for work in a couple of days. I'll bring you back a gift,” Edward suddenly said while we
were eating.
| paused for a second-Aurelia? My eyes flickered. His ex-wife lives there.
‘So he’s going to see her,’ | thought, feeling a little uneasy.
“Oh, no need. Just focus on your work,” | said with a light laugh.
Edward added, “My ex-wife and |

| blinked in surprise. “Nora is really lucky to have such amazing parents.”
Edward sighed softly. “Maybe. But we couldn't give her a complete family.”
“But she still gets plenty of love from you both,” | said.
“We try,” Edward replied, glancing out the window.
Just then, Edward's phone rang. He

The phone rang again, and this time, Edward picked it up. “Alright, | agree. Sign him for a year.”
After that, he tossed his phone aside, and | could tell he was pissed.
“What's wrong? Work giving you a hard time?” | asked, concerned.
Edward finally put down his fork and
took a sip of tea. “My exiles pew
