The warmth of his palm shot throughlike a surge of electricity, making my whole body tingle. | couldn't quite

nthe feeling, but suddenly | was burning up inside, the heat blooming from my heart and spreading

outwards.

| struggled to break free, but his grip was unyielding. It was so late, just the two of us here, and the silence

pressed in from all sides.

On the wall, a world clock ticked with every second, each sound echoing in the quiet room.

It was like a timer tapping directly on my heart, strange and delicate, tangled with desire and resistance.

Edward took my hand and walked ahead with me, his tall figure radiating a commanding presence that made the

pressure feel almost suffocating.

We walked through a few corridors, and a large door swung open, revealing the soft whinnies of horses.

The sound-activated lights suddenly lit up, startling the resting horses. Instantly, the stable buzzed with life as

the horses curiously poked their heads out. | realized every single one was absolutely gorgeous.

Edward stopped by a door, opened it, and led out a glossy, majestic horse. He grabbed a saddle from nearby,

fixed it in place, then picked up a helmet, cover, and popped it onto my head.

“Ride a couple laps with me,” Edward said, his eyes lit up with excitement.

“I can’t, I've never ridden a horse before,” | blurted out, my nerves shot. “I'm a total chicken when it comes to

risky stuff.”

“Relax, it's super gentle. Withhere, nothing’s gonna happen,” Edward reassured, slipping on his own helmet.

He vaulted onto the horse with practiced ease, then reached out his hand to me. “Con, letshow you

what it’s like-just a couple laps.”

“I...” | stammered, my hands trembling. I felt like | was being thrown into the deep end, totally unprepared.

Edward was already on the horse, his eyes lowered to meet mine, his gaze soft but full of anticipation.

Gritting my teeth, | squeezed my eyes shut and reached out my hand.

With a strong pull, he liftedup and settledright in front of him on the saddle.

| let out a startled gasp, instinctively reaching for something to hold onto.

Just then, his big hand slipped around my waist, and Edward whispered softly in my ear, “Don’t be scared, I've

got you. If you're really nervous, just grab the reins with me.”

| instantly grabbed the reins.

“Let's go!” | felt his legs give Whirlwind a gentle nudge, and the horse trotted forward, smooth and easy.

We weren't going fast-Whirlwind was moving with pure elegance, his coat gleaming, glossy and stunning, like

he’d just been brushed to perfection.

Whirlwind trotted out of the stable, and we found ourselves in a wide, open field, rows of lights stretching into

the distance. The place seemed endless, and the wind was a little chilly.

Edward spread his coat open behind me, and | leaned back into him, letting his warmth surround me.

I'd been so caught up in fear before, but now that | was getting used to being up high, everything around me

started to feel sharper, more real.

The body pressed against my back was solid and strong, like a fortress, makingfeel safe and warm.

The wind carried his scent-crisp and clean-and my heart squeezed tight. My palms, clutching the reins, were

slick with sweat.

His hand around my waist moved with the rhythm of the horse's gait-it felt weirdly close, almost too intimate.

Out of nowhere, my mouth went dry, and | swallowed hard.

Edward took the opportunity to showaround. “That's where they hold the riding competitions, and over

there’s the racetrack. They even play polo on the far side...”

Honestly, | barely caught a word he said-my brain was just a chaotic swirl of nonsense.

“Edward, why did you decide to donate a school building to my high school?” | blurted out, breaking the silence.

That dream | had that night still sticks with me, like destiny had its claws inand just wouldn't let go.

Edward looked a bit embarrassed, letting out a low chuckle. “Honestly, no real reason. | just figured doing

something for you might make my lonely heart feel a little less empty.”

“I just can’t believe someone in your position could really have such sincere feelings,” | said, my doubt clear in

my voice.

The arm around my waist went stiff, as if my words had really hit Edward hard.

“Is that so?” he asked, sounding genuinely hurt. “Honestly, | never thought I'd be the type to do something like

this. I've always been the kind of businessman who only does things if there’s something in it for me-never just

for the sake of it.”

| turned to look back at him, but couldn't see his face-just caught a glimpse of his eyes out of the corner of my

eye, and they looked kind of lost.

“What do you want fromthen?” | asked quietly.

“There's nothing in it for me-that’s exactly why I like you,” Edward said with a bitter smile. “If | really wanted

something from you, | would've just taken it already.”

His words had a dangerous edge that sent a chill down my spine-I couldn't help but feel uneasy.
