Chapter 222: She Had Done the SThing Before
(Sophia Rivers’s POV)
| sat on the hard bench in the detention cell, trying to keep my composure despite my surroundings. Three she-
wolves approached me, led by a short-haired woman with calculating eyes.
“Hey,” she called out, her voice rough. “I heard you're quite capable, that you once bribed people in the station
to get someone crippled?”
| looked at her with disdain, my patience wearing thin. “What are you randomly approachingfor? Do | even
know you?”
The short-haired woman's smile vanished instantly. She stood up and without warning, her palm connected with
my cheek with such force that I fell to the ground. Before I could even process what had happened, all
three women surrounded me.
The short-haired woman grabbed my hair, yanking my head up to forceto look at her. “Look where you are.
You're already in here, what are you being arrogant about?”
Fear crept into my heart as | sensed their malicious intent. | quickly lowered my attitude, my voice trembling.
“Are... are you mistakingfor someone else?”
“We haven't mistaken anyone,” she mocked, her grip tightening. “You're called something Rivers, oh! Sophia
Rivers, right?”

She gripped my chin painfully, her nails digging into my skin. “Do you needto remind you what you've
done?”
| pushed her away with trembling shoulders, desperately trying to maintain scontrol. “I don’t know what
you're talking about! This is a pack enforcement station - if you dare touch me, you won't get away with it
either!”
The slightly overweight woman standing behind her crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing. “You know this is a
pack enforcement station, but didn’t you do the sthing before?”
Her words hitlike a physical blow. | froze, suddenly understanding what this was about.
Before | could gather my thoughts, the short-haired woman's foot connected with my stomach. | doubled over,
crying out in pain. All three women descended onwith fists and feet. | curled into a ball, begging for mercy
as blows rained down from all directions.
Through tear-filled eyes, | noticed the surveillance camera in the corner had been turned off. No one was
coming to help me.
The brutal beating continued until | was barely conscious. Only when a guard finally arrived, shouting “What are
you doing!” did the assault stop.
I lay on the cold floor, my entire body wracked with excruciating pain. A continuous buzzing filled my ears,
making it impossible to hear clearly what was happening around me. Hot liquid trickled from my forehead down
my cheek - blood.

More Rewards
In this moment of agony and helplessness, a single face flashed in my mind: David Blackthorne. The boy | had
arranged to have beaten in this very sway.
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
“Full house!” Mrs. Harrison announced with delight as she revealed her cards.
| smiled and laid down my own hand. “Royal flush.”
The table erupted in groans and laughter. Despite being a complete beginner at this card game, I'd somehow
managed to win again.
“That's the beginner's protection period for you,” Mrs. Lopez joked, shaking her head in disbelief.
Mrs. Fisher sighed tically. “My son Edmund was terrible his first tplaying. Lost everything within an
hour. He's a doctor at your hospital, you know.”
“Dr. Edmund Fisher? Yes, | know him,” | replied politely. “He’s quite skilled.”
The conversation shifted to their children’s accomplishments and family matters. | listened attentively but
had little to contribute. My life as Luna to Marcus Blackwood had been nothing like theirs.
After Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Lopez left, having lost considerable amounts, Mrs. Harrison served afternoon tea.
“Is Hazel Green still causing trouble for you?” she asked, her voice lowered despite us being alone.
| shook my head. “Not lately.”
“Stay vigilant,” she warned, stirring her tea. “Especially now that the Xavier family father and son have
returned to the Southern Territory.”
| nearly dropped my cup. “The Xavier family?”
Mrs. Harrison nodded gravely. “Hazel Green likely has connections to them, particularly Fred Xavier, In fact, |
believe Fred left his previous pack because of her.”
“What kind of person is Fred Xavier?” | asked, trying to keep my voice casual.
“Smooth, skilled in social relations. That's how he achieved his position,” she explained. “Though I find it strange
that he suddenly resigned from his hard-earned job and cut all ties with his social circles.”
As she spoke, my mind kept flashing back to the image of a man in a hooded raincoat, his face obscured in
the shadows of my childhood memories.
My phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. Rachel Thompson's nflashed on the screen.
“Hello?” | answered.
Rachel’s voice cthrough, urgent and concerned. “Elena, Sophia Rivers has been sent to the hospital's
intensive healing ward by the pack enforcement station.”
