Chapter 213: He Knows Everything

Chapter 213: He Knows Everything

(Elena Blackwood’s POV)

He said | was cruel to him. My eyes dimmed as | calmly met his deep golden gaze.

“What is my cruelty compared to half of what you did toback then?”

The words hung in the air between us like a blade. | watched his expression shift, saw the

way his jaw tightened at my accusation.

(Marcus Blackwood’s POV)

| had anticipated her response. The bitter truth of it didn’t make it hurt any less.

| smiled faintly, though there was no warmth in it. “So you always hated me. Even staying by

my side was just to fulfill the promise my mother made to you, right?”

Elena's face went pale. Her green eyes widened in shock, and | saw the exact moment she

realized what | had just revealed.

| knew. | knew about the promise Victoria had made to her.

Elena was stunned, her lips parting slightly as if to speak, but no words came. Her eyes

darted away from mine, unable to hold my gaze.

That small gesture confirmed everything Isabella had told me. The dodging, the guilt written across her features

- it was all the proof | needed.

She wasn’t here because she wanted to be. She was here because she had been promised an

escape route.

The knowledge felt like a knife twisting in my chest, but | forced myself to remain composed. | couldn't let her

see how deeply her betrayal cut.

| sat back in the driver's seat, my palm supporting my forehead as | fought to suppress the

emotions threatening to overwhelm me. The pain, the rage, the devastating sense of loss-1 pushed them all

down, buried them deep.

“You can leave now,” | said quietly, not looking at her.

Elena remained still beside me. | could feel her presence, could hear her shallow breathing in

the confined space of the car.

The silence stretched between us, heavy with unspoken words and broken promises.

| couldn’t stand it anymore. The weight of her presence, the knowledge of her deception, the way she just sat

there saying nothing.

“Go!” | suddenly yelled, my voice echoing in the small space.

Elena flinched at my outburst, her body jerking away from me. For a moment, she looked like she might say

something, might try to explain or defend herself.

But she didn’t. She simply gathered her things and reached for the door handle.

| watched her prepare to leave, and despite everything, despite the anger and hurt coursing through my veins, |

found myself reaching out to stop her.

My hand grasped at empty air. She was already gone, the car door slamming shut behind her.

| stared through the window as she walked away, her figure growing smaller with each step. My chest tightened

painfully, and | felt a familiar metallic taste fill my mouth.

The salty, fishy taste of blood coated my tongue as | watched the woman | loved disappear

into the crowd.

(Elena Blackwood’s POV)

| didn’t return to the hotel. Instead, | flagged down a taxi and gave the driver Jane Ports’

address.

The city lights blurred past the window as we drove through the evening traffic. My hands

trembled slightly in my lap, the confrontation with Marcus replaying in my mind.

He knew about Victoria's promise. But how? And what else did he know?

When the taxi pulled up outside Jane's apartment building, | paid the driver and made my way to her door. My

legs felt unsteady, as if the ground might give way beneathat any

moment.

Jane opened the door after my first knock, her face lighting up with surprise and amusement.

“Our Healer Elena has nowhere else to go?” she teased, stepping aside to letin.

| entered her cozy apartment, the familiar warmth of her hwrapping aroundlike a

comfort blanket.

“Isn't it because | can’t go home?” | said with self-deprecating humor.

The truth was, | didn’t want to go back to the hotel. | couldn't face the possibility of running into Hugo Ashworth,

not after what had happened with Marcus. | didn’t know what | would say to him, how | would explain the

complicated mess my life had become.

For now, Jane's place offered the peace and quiet | desperately needed.

“Rachel is on night duty today,” Jane said, moving toward her kitchen. “Perfect timing - | was

getting bored being alone.”

She returned with a bottle of red wine, holding it up with a questioning look. “Want to join me

for a couple of drinks tonight?”

| nodded, grateful for the distraction. “Sure.”

(God's POV)

Meanwhile, at the Crimson Moon Hotel, Alexander Blackwood received an urgent call from

his secretary. He rushed back to Marcus's suite, his heart pounding with worry.

What he found when he entered the bedroom made his blood run cold.

Marcus sat against the headboard, his face deathly pale. Blood stained his lips and the front

of his shirt, evidence of a severe coughing fit.

His condition looked even worse than before, more fragile and deteriorated than Alexander

had ever seen.

“How could it beclike this?” Alexander demanded, turning to the pack doctor who had

been speaking with his secretary.

The doctor's expression was helpless, his hands spread in a gesture of defeat. “Alpha Marcus has been smoking

again these past few days. Tobacco is extremely harmful to lung

disease patients who have undergone infusion therapy.”

He paused, his voice growing more serious. “If he continues to act so recklessly, his

condition will only worsen. | cannot stress enough how dangerous this behavior is.”

Alexander's frown deepened, lines of worry etching themselves across his forehead. “I'll make sure to watch him

more carefully.”

He instructed his secretary to escort the doctor out, then turned his attention to the other staff members who

had been present.

The driver and Elite Guards were preparing to leave as well, but Alexander stopped them with

a sharp gesture.

“What exactly happened today?” he demanded, his voice carrying the authority of his

position.

The driver stammered nervously, clearly uncomfortable under Alexander's intense scrutiny.

“Il... I don’t know, sir.”

“You were with him today,” Alexander pressed, his displeasure evident. “How could

know what happened?”

you not

Alexander's face showed his growing irritation. He believed the driver was deliberately hiding something,

protecting Marcus from consequences.

Just as the driver opened his mouth to attempt an explanation, Marcus interrupted from the

bed.

“He really doesn’t know,” Marcus said quietly. “You don’t need to make things difficult for him.”

The driver shot Marcus a grateful look before quickly leaving the room with the guards, eager to escape the

tense atmosphere.

Alexander put his hands on his hips, struggling to suppress his anger. His son’s reckless

behavior was pushing him to his limits.

“How did you promise your mother?” he asked, his voice tight with frustration. “You know

your own physical condition...”

“I'm fine,” Marcus replied flatly.

“Coughing up blood and you say you're fine!” Alexander exploded.

But even as the words left his mouth, understanding dawned on his face. He turned to look at

Marcus with new comprehension.

“Is it because of Elena?”

Marcus's silence stretched for a long moment before he finally answered. “It has nothing to

do with her.”

Seeing Marcus deny it so quickly, Alexander began pacing back and forth across the room. His agitation was

palpable, his movements sharp and restless.

“Besides her, what else could it be?” he demanded. “Marcus, when did you beclike this!”

He couldn't allow his proud son to be tormented like this because of a she-wolf. The very idea was unacceptable

to him.

Marcus rubbed the bridge of his nose, exhaustion evident in every line of his body. “It really has nothing to do

with her.”

“It better not be!” Alexander flung his hand dismissively and stormed toward the door.

As he reached the threshold, he turned to his secretary who waited in the hallway. “Keep an

eye on him. Don’t let him touch another cigarette.”

The door slammed shut behind him, leaving Marcus alone with his thoughts.

Hearing the commotion outside gradually fade, Marcus turned his gaze toward the window. The city lights

twinkled in the distance, but his expression gradually dimmed as he stared out

at the night.
